(NationalSentinel) It’s unclear whether or not President-elect Donald J. Trump or his transition team have anything to with it or not, but the inspector general for the Justice Department just dropped a bombshell.
The IG’s office announced it plans to review the actions and behavior of the FBI and the department in the months leading up to the November elections, an investigation that is sure to include how DoJ and the FBI handled the Hillary Clinton email probe. It’s being reported by The Washington Post, so don’t expect any salacious anti-Clinton details:
The Department of Justice inspector general will review broad allegations of misconduct involving the FBI’s investigation of Hillary Clinton’s email practices and the bureau’s controversial decision shortly before the election to announce the probe had resumed, the Inspector General announced Thursday.
The probe will be wide ranging — encompassing the FBI’s various public statements on the matter, whether its deputy director should have been recused and whether Department of Justice or FBI employees leaked non-public information, according to a news release from Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz.
Just remember that the department–nay, the entire federal bureaucracy–is infested with careerist, #nevertrump Left-wing hacks and operatives. So this could be nothing short of a new attempt to undermine his presidency; what if the IG comes back and says it found ‘evidence’ that the pre-election investigation by the FBI and DoJ was full of anti-Clinton shenanigans?
Remember, Democrats and the Clinton campaign complained the loudest when FBI Director James Comey announced in the days before the election his investigators were taking a new look at some fresh evidence in the Clinton case, even though the bureau essentially cleared her again.
Nothing in the nation’s capital is as it seems. But the Trump transition and leadership circle includes plenty of experienced Washington hands, so it’s likely the incoming president will be able to parry this should it turn out to be just another partisan effort to de-legitimize the new administration.
