(NationalSentinel) During the last election cycle, the Democratic Party nominated one of the worst, most politically and legally compromised candidates in their history and she lost badly to a first-time politician who presented ideas that resonated with an electoral majority.
That has so angered them that they have created narrative after false narrative to “explain” why Hillary Clinton was trounced by Donald J. Trump and why he is set to be inaugurated today as our 45th president instead of her.
‘The Russians hacked the election!’
‘Hillary won a majority of votes!’
‘Putin hates Hillary so he helped Trump!’
‘This election is NOT legitimate!’
And so on.
Yes, Hillary won a majority of votes, all of which came from California–which is one of the reasons why our founders settled on an Electoral College system for electing presidents, instead of a simple majority (so that small states had a fair say in the outcome rather than allowing big states to decide the presidency).
President Vladimir Putin does for Russia what every leader (except President Obama) does for their country, which is put Russian interests first–and he will continue to do so, no matter who is U.S. president. In other words, he doesn’t play “favorites,” just the odds (and the odds were, Clinton was going to win, if you recall).
Trump won more electoral votes than Clinton, so yes, he is our “legitimate president.”
But truths like these don’t matter to the angry Left; they lost, they don’t like it, so they’re going to spend the next four years, at least, doing everything they accused Republicans of doing during the Obama years. And they will justify it, hypocritically, by claiming they ‘have a right to protect the country from Trump’–as if he’s planning on hunting down his political enemies and jailing them or something. As reported by The Washington Times:
Liberal protesters disrupting Senate confirmation hearings. Sixty House Democrats boycotting the inauguration. Women’s rights marchers protesting the day after Donald Trump becomes president.
Is the political left getting ahead of itself in bashing and trashing the Trump White House?
Or are Democrats and left-wing groups gearing up for perpetual protest — a never-ending onslaught of dissent and criticism aimed at delegitimizing the Trump presidency, discrediting the Trump administration and demonizing all things Trump?
Kellyanne Conway, Mr. Trump’s former campaign manager and current presidential counselor, says it’s the latter.
“The professional political left is attempting to foment a permanent opposition that is corrosive to our constitutional democracy,” she told The New York Times last month. “The left is trying to delegitimize his election. … They’re trying to deny him what he just earned.”
“You’re going to have a permanent opposition, sort of a combination of the news media and the Elizabeth Warren hard left, and they’re going to attack every single day and they’re going to find something to attack all the time,” he said recently on Fox’s “Sunday Morning Futures.”
“And Trump’s got to get used to the idea. ‘That’s OK, that’s just noise,’ ” Mr. Gingrich said.
While no one expects the losing party to just accept defeat per se, what is taking place among the Left is unprecedented.
“This is dramatically different from what we’ve seen,” said conservative author David Horowitz, chronicler of left-wing movements and author of the 2012 book “The New Leviathan: How the Left-Wing Money Machine Shapes American Politics.”
“A democracy only works if the factions, the divisions are done peacefully and resolved peacefully, and compromises are made,” he told the Times. “There’s a honeymoon after the election in which the losing party defends the legitimacy of the election result. That’s why we’ve had peace since the Civil War in this country.” [RELATED: What threats to our democracy are eminent? Find out at Collapse.news]
What’s worse is that the angry Left’s narratives–Trump plans to “attack minorities,” ‘attack our democracy,’ etc.–are completely baseless. And they are devoid of rationality. That’s what makes their anger so difficult to accept; it’s not even based on reality.
Then again, a majority of Americans are sick and tired of the perpetual anger, which is one very big reason why Democrats lost so big in November (after steadily losing seats to Republicans for years). Hate, division and anger is all the party preaches.
And it appears its leaders have learned nothing since Trump’s victory.
