(NationalSentinel) If you needed more proof that the discredited establishment media still has no clue who President Donald J. Trump really is, you needn’t look any further than a story today at The Hill.
Headlined, “Surprise! Trump Doing What He Said He’d Do,” sets the tone immediately: The media, which has never taken Trump seriously, still doesn’t.
From The Hill:
In his first frantic week at the White House, Donald Trump is doing almost exactly what he promised to do during his campaign, stunning those who thought he’d adapt his style as president.
Trump has signed an executive order to begin building a wall on the Mexican border and doubled down on his promise to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement and repeal ObamaCare.
Actions to temporarily suspend visas for people coming to the United States from a number of Muslim nations are expected to come soon.
Trump hasn’t stopped tweeting either, nor has he quit his habit of launching into new fights seemingly on a whim…
During the campaign, Trump’s critics dismissed his ambitious agenda as rhetoric that he’d back away from once in office.
If candidate Trump beat the odds and made it to the White House, they said, The Trump Show will surely grind to a halt once he’s confronted with the realities of governing.
It hasn’t turned out like that at all.
This all actually works to Trump’s advantage, at least for his first term in office. When your political opponents regularly underestimate you or are unable to come to terms about who you are, then you win. Always.
Granted, it’s very early and Trump will be getting some pushback on his policies, beginning with so-called ‘sanctuary cities’ run by far-Left Democrats who think nothing of breaking federal immigration laws to pad their own political power base.
But it’s also fair to say that, despite all of the legal arguments these cities are preparing to make, they, too, have most likely underestimated Trump and his team of advisors, all of whom have spent as much time or more as the legal teams for cities studying federal statutes and case law to determine what the president can and cannot do, administratively, when it comes to his executive actions.
We’ll see; it will all play out eventually, most likely in the courts. But given the amazement at Trump’s sticking to his word, that just tells you how jaded and unresponsive to the people our politics have become.
