SHOWDOWN: As federal judge blocks Trump’s refugee ban, Customs agents ignore judge’s ruling

(NationalSentinel) Without a doubt, President Donald J. Trump was under no illusions about how difficult it would be to undo decades’ worth of Left-wing domestic policy and globalism, and with just a week in office, he is seeing first-hand the massive opposition he faces.

Last week Trump issued an executive order–which he has every right to do–banning entry into the United States refugees from countries known to foment and harbor terrorism, but late Saturday night, after some judge-shopping by the ACLU, a federal court issued an order overturning Trump’s order. As reported by The Associated Press:

09-02-16-03-17-18_promo_article_160x600-option-1A federal judge’s emergency order has temporarily barred the U.S. from deporting people from nations subject to President Donald Trump’s travel ban. The judge said travelers who had been detained had a strong argument that their legal rights had been violated.

The Department of Homeland Security issued a statement early Sunday that said the court ruling would not affect the overall implementation of the White House order and it affected a relatively small number of travelers who were inconvenienced by security procedures upon their return.

The emergency order was issued by U.S. District Judge Ann Donnelly in New York Saturday night after lawyers for the American Civil Liberties Union filed a court petition on behalf of people from seven predominantly Muslim nations who were detained at airports across the country as the ban took effect.

Despite the judge’s ruling, however, the New York Post reported that Customs agents were essentially ignoring it:

The ACLU is getting “multiple reports” that federal customs agents are siding with President Trump — and willfully ignoring a Brooklyn federal judge’s demand that travelers from seven Muslim countries not be deported from the nation’s airports.

“The court’s order could not be clearer… they need to comply with the order,” Omar Jadwat, director of the ACLU’s Immigrants Rights project, told The Post late Saturday.

“It’s enough to be a serious concern,” Jadwat said of the reports.

That a federal judge would deign to overrule the president of the United States on an issue that deals with national security is in and of itself outrageous; that the same judge and a Left-wing legal group believe that people who are not citizens of the United States have some inherent right to enter against said president’s order is laughable.

Despite what this activist judge says, the law could not be clearer. Section 212(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952 states: “Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.”

What’s more, there is plenty of precedence. The past six presidents, including Barack Obama, have blocked classes of immigrants. Trump’s predecessor, The Daily Caller reported, used the law no less than six times to issue entry bans.

The Customs agents are exactly right to ignore Donnelly’s order; she had no authority to issue it.

These are serious times and it’s obvious the angry Left and the globalists will go to any lengths to oppose our president.
