(NationalSentinel) Another Hollywood self-congratulatory love-fest took place on Sunday, and rather than revel in patting each other on the backs for being a part of the 1 percenters, they instead took the opportunity to disrespect President Donald J. Trump and the tens of millions of Americans who voted for him.
You can dismiss actors as nothing but insecure attention-seekers — and a lot of the time that’s just what Hollywood does — but on Sunday night at the 23rd Screen Actors Guild Awards, the honorees rose to the occasion of the moment. And much of the ceremony played like a rally of the resistance.
“I am a citizen of the world,” Ashton Kutcher said, as he kicked off the proceedings at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, addressing headfirst the politically charged events of the past week. Speaking to “everyone in airports that belong in my America,” he went on to exclaim, “You are part of the fabric of who we are and we love you and we welcome you.”
With that, the tone was set for an evening where almost everyone who took the stage chose to speak, some more explicitly to others, about the current political climate, with many remarks aimed directly at President Donald Trump.
Unbelievable. The man’s trying to protect them and they are bashing him for it. How stupid can you be?
To hear the “stars” in Hollywood speak, you’d think that Trump is the modern-day incarnation of Hitler, Stalin and Mao rolled into one. What’s more, you might get the impression that they the real representation of what American is and ought to be.
Note to you Hollywood types who think you’re speaking for ‘the country’–you’re not.
You’re speaking for yourselves and, truth be told, you’re the ones who are being political bigots, so intolerant and so hateful of anyone who doesn’t think like you or believe in the causes you believe in.
The more you try to convince people you’re “citizens of the world” who are “welcoming, loving, caring and accepting,” the more you demonstrate how you’re not what America is and has always been.
You can’t preach ‘tolerance’ while being intolerant. You can’t preach ‘acceptance’ while refusing to accept anyone who has a different opinion or viewpoint. You can’t preach ‘love’ while hating so much. You can’t preach ‘unity’ while doing your best to divide.
If that’s the America you think exists, you’re mistaken.
