(NationalSentinel) President Donald J. Trump, in his first visit to U.S. Central Command, which is responsible for operations in the Middle East and Afghanistan, vowed to make a “historic investment” in the U.S. armed forces, as global threats rise around the world.
“Radical Islamic terrorists are determined to strike our homeland as they did on 9/11, as they did from Boston to Orlando to San Bernardino. and all across Europe — you have seen what happened in Paris and Nice,” Trump told members of military, as reported by the New York Post.
“It’s gotten to a point where it’s not even being reported, and in many cases, the very, very dishonest press doesn’t want to report it. They have their reasons and you understand that.”
“To these forces of death and destruction: America and its allies will defeat you. We will defeat them. … and we will not allow them to take root in this country,” Trump said of ISIS.
He then added the military’s been dealing with a dearth of equipment.
“You’ve been lacking equipment. We’re going to load it up.”
“We’re gonna be loading it up with beautiful new equipment,” he added.
Trump promised to make an “investment” in the military, saying, “We have your back, every hour, every day, now and always. That also means getting our allies to pay their fair share.”
Military spending peaked, but then went down under President Obama after he signed a budget control bill that cut federal spending first and foremost from the Pentagon.
