Now that Israel is back in favor with U.S., Dems who shunned Netanyahu during Obama years want political photo ops

These people never change

(NationalSentinel) If there is one thing Democrats are consistent about it’s hypocrisy. In fact, they are such masters you have to think it’s a requirement before they’ll let you into their party.

During the Obama administration, one could accurately describe the U.S.-Israeli relationship as frigid. That was Obama’s fault, not the fault of conservative Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu; it was Obama’s foreign policy that regularly deferred to Arab/Muslim enemies of Israel, such as Iran, that led to the icy relationship. You could even say that Netanyahu probably believed Obama might be something of an anti-Semite; talk show giant, author and legal scholar Mark Levin, himself Jewish, certainly did.

And all through Obama’s less-than-ideal treatment of Israel, there were his loyal Democratic legions in Congress, always ready to defend the indefensible and stick up for their guy in the White House.

Now that President Donald Trump has committed to rebuilding the fractured U.S.-Israeli relationship, Democrats – especially those in heavily Jewish districts – have had a change of heart.

As reported by the Washington Free Beacon, many are clamoring for meetings with Netanyahu, to show their ‘support’:

After years of tense relations with the United States under former President Barack Obama, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is emerging as one of the most prominent international personalities, according to multiple sources who told the Washington Free Beacon that Democrats, Republicans, and high-level White House officials are clamoring for a sit down with the Israeli leader when he arrives in town on Tuesday.

Senior officials across party lines hope to let Netanyahu know that America has Israel’s back and that years of tension during the Obama administration is just water under the bridge, according to both congressional sources and those close to the Trump administration.

Netanyahu’s schedule is already packed with powwows between President Trump, senior administration officials, and a cast of leading lawmakers on Capitol Hill from both sides of the aisle.

Just…wow.

“Years of tension?” Things got so bad that Netanyahu took the unprecedented step of accepting an invitation from the GOP-controlled Congress to appear before lawmakers in a plea not to allow Obama to make his nuclear deal with Iran. Oh, and about that speech and newly ‘conciliatory’ Democrats: 56 of them skipped Netanyahu’s impassioned speech.

No doubt Netanyahu won’t forget that irreparable snub. Still, he knows he has to get along with members of both parties, because at some point in what would be a horrible future, Democrats might actually be in control of one chamber or another again.

It just bears remembering what boorish hypocrites Democrats are. Some things never change.
