(NationalSentinel) It’s not often you hear a mainstream media journalist perform some honest self-reflection on the industry, but CBS anchor John Dickerson has just done that. And to his thinking, Americans distrust his industry not because of anything President Donald J. Trump has said or done, but because of the media’s dishonesty.
As reported by the Washington Examiner, Dickerson – in a Friday interview with conservative radio talk show host Hugh Hewitt, said the press is to blame for its own loss of credibility:
In a radio interview Friday, conservative host Hugh Hewitt referred to the previous day’s press conference at the White House, in which Trump laid into the news media and told reporters in the room that the public cannot trust them.
“But that one comment, they don’t trust you anymore, is a summation of where we are in America, because I really do think Manhattan-Beltway elites have lost the country,” Hewitt said. “They’ve lost it.”
“Yes, it’s true, and it’s not because of anything obviously Donald Trump did. The press did all that good work ruining its reputation on its own, and we can have a long conversation about what created that,” Dickerson said.
“Part of it, though, is what you mentioned about the local weather report, which is to say a lot of hysterical coverage about every little last thing that doesn’t warrant it,” he added.
Proving Trump’s point, NBC News‘ Chuck Todd tweeted out after TRump’s Thursday presser, “This not a laughing matter. I’m sorry, delegitimizing the press is unAmerican.”
Oh, but the press trying to delegitimize the president of the United States is okay? Mr. Todd, what are you smoking?
The Washington establishment media has been hysterically attacking Trump and his administration since before they took power last month, and still most of them don’t get why the American people hold Congress and car salesmen in more esteem than them. That’s worse that denial; that’s mental instability.Click here for reuse options!
