(NationalSentinel) Healthcare: When legislation becomes shrouded in secrecy, that usually means the offending party has something to hide. So, what are Republicans hiding in new legislation that allegedly ‘repeals and replaces’ Obamacare?
Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., and tens of millions of Americans, would like to know.
As reported by The Hill, Paul, a physician, is criticizing Republican leaders for keeping Obamacare repeal legislation in a secure location:
“I have been told that the House Obamacare bill is under lock & key, in a secure location, & not available for me or the public to view,” Paul tweeted.
“This is unacceptable. This is the biggest issue before Congress and the American people right now.”
House Republicans’ new version of the replacement bill is being kept in a “dedicated reading room,” Bloomberg reported, where it will be available to members of the House Energy and Commerce committee ahead of a markup. The move is an effort to prevent leaks.
GOP leaders say the bill will be released once it is final.
We’ll see. This is the same thing the Obama administration did when it was negotiating the horrid Trans-Pacific Partnership “free trade” agreement, which President Donald Trump has vowed to scrap.

Legitimate leak concerns aside, Obamacare repeal and replace isn’t something being hammered out between a dozen foreign governments. And frankly, the GOP has had years to prepare legislation that would return the American health care system to normalcy. Why the big secret now?
The most likely answer is that “repeal and replace” won’t actually be repeal and replace, but something akin to a smoke-and-mirrors version instead. If that’s the case, let’s hope that the president doesn’t sign it and admonishes the GOP Congress to do what it promised and send a real bill that ends the nightmare of Obamacare once and for all.
