(NationalSentinel) Economic Activism: If ever there was one issue that encapsulates the reflexive self-centered selfishness of the perpetually angry Left, it is the Keystone XL Pipeline project.
Hailed by its backers as one more step toward American energy independence, Alt-Left environmental groups and others are vowing to pull out all the stops to ensure that the vast majority of the country is denied its economic and security benefits.
As reported by the Washington Times, Leftists are planning “guerrilla warfare” tactics that include street protests, court battles and outright obstruction of the project along its intended route, in pursuit of their own egocentric interests:
Environmental activists vowed over the weekend to fight the Keystone XL oil pipeline to the bitter end, insisting the Trump administration’s approval of the long-delayed project will not be the final word.
Powerful green groups are launching a two-pronged strategy to block the pipeline in the streets and in the courts. First, they intend to use a state review process in Nebraska — where Keystone still does not have a legal route, despite federal approval of the project — to delay any movement forward.
Nebraska state officials charged with approving the pipeline’s path say a decision shouldn’t be expected until September at the earliest, and environmentalists could drag that process out even longer.
Mind you, most of these organizations denounce any and all U.S. military involvement in the Middle East, a region of the planet holding much of the world’s oil resources and which has major strategic importance to U.S. national security – while at the same time opposing any domestic efforts to bolster our own energy security, so that we have to spend less time and resources defending those interests.

At the same time the egotistical Left, by opposing Keystone, is opposing job creation, lower energy costs, and economic opportunities for tens of millions of Americans. Nothing fair about that.
It’s wonderful to contemplate a world where solar-, electric-, and wind-powered homes, vehicles and businesses dominate, but we’re not there yet and frankly, we may not be for decades. Enviro-Leftists say as long as we remain “addicted” to fossil fuels, we’ll never make the investments necessary to develop viable “green” alternatives.
That’s not at all the case. Research and development in those greener areas of energy production are not only substantial but ongoing. At some point, energy production will become both sustainable and economically viable.
But in the meantime, we’ve got fossil fuel, and the means to get to it and to use it as cleanly as possible. The majority of Americans outside of California voted for Donald J. Trump; and the Trump administration has approved Keystone construction. That should be the end of it.
Most Americans welcome cheaper fuel prices and energy self-sufficiency. And the country would have achieved both by now, were it not for the constant agitation and self-serving, anti-American opposition from the Left.
