(NationalSentinel) Politics: We’ll make a prediction right now: If Republicans in the House and Senate continue to behave like Democrats in working to thwart President Donald J. Trump’s agenda, they’ll be ex-congressional Republicans in the coming election cycles.
Trump continues to face opposition to his most ardent campaign promises – repealing Obamacare, reforming the tax code, and now, building the promised border wall – from Republicans who, like Democrats, apparently don’t want Trump to succeed.
As reported by Breitbart, some GOP leaders plan to thwart Trump’s initial border wall funding request of a measly $3.8 billion to get the ball rolling, ostensibly because they’re so afraid of being blamed for a potential government shutdown that the Democrats have already owned:
Amid Democratic opposition, Republican leaders are retreating from President Donald Trump’s very popular campaign promise to build a border fence to block illegal immigration, drug smugglers, and criminals.
A top GOP leader, Sen. Roy Blunt, told reporters on Tuesday that GOP leaders do not want to include Trump’s spending for the border wall in the spring budget, which is due by April 28. “All of the committees, the leaderships of the House and Senate, are working together to try to finalize the rest of the FY17 [budget spending] bill,” he added. “My guess is that comes together better without the [border] supplemental,” he told The Hill. But GOP leaders may include some border spending in a separate 2017 budget for the military, Blunt suggested.
Top Democrats are hoping to wreck Trump’s presidency by blocking any funding for his key campaign promise. “The wall is a poison-pill rider,” Schumer said in an interview with Politico. “They’ll do it at their peril.”

Schumer’s threats aside – like he’s going to give sound political advice to Republicans – Trump supporters, who stuck with him through successive political and media onslaughts, are not going to take this continued opposition from their own party lightly. There will be a day of reckoning for the Republican members of the House and Senate who, for selfish political reasons, continue to hold a vendetta against the one president who can actually make all of them look like saviors of the nation.
Count on it.
Times have changed. Americans are in no mood for this BS ‘politics as usual’ stuff. That’s why Trump’s in the Oval Office in the first place.
The GOP ignores that “at their peril.”
