(NationalSentinel) Media: When it comes to his first annual White House correspondents dinner, President Donald J. Trump has something better to do.
He wants to spend it with the American people.
Well, some of us, at least. He’s going to hold a rally instead.
As reported by Breitbart News, the president is heading to Pennsylvania:
President Trump announced Saturday afternoon that he will be holding a rally that happens to be the same night as the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
Trump himself announced the event on Twitter, of course:
Trump plans to hold the rally in Harrisburg, the state capital, and close by Carlisle, Pa., home to the U.S. Army War College.
The rally will be held April 29 in Harrisburg, the same day as Trump marks the 100th day of his presidency, Politico reported.
A senior White House official said Trump’s emphasis is on the American people, not the media which, of course, has been dreadfully (and chronically) unkind to him.
“The media is trying to make this about them when — respectfully it has nothing to do with you guys,” said the official. “It’s about focusing on the people.”
In addition, as a show of solidarity with the president, no White House staffers will be at the dinner.
This has prompted some media outlets to cancel their parties. They include Vanity Fair, TIME, People, Bloomberg, and the New Yorker.
