(National Sentinel) Politics: In a wide-ranging interview with Fox News host and former judge, Jean Pirro, President Donald J. Trump correctly called Democrats “hypocrites” for their faux outrage over his firing of former FBI Director James B. Comey.
“Let’s say I did it on January 20,” Trump said. “That would have been the big story as opposed to the inauguration. I was thinking about it then… There’s really no right time to do it.”
He also added that Democrats’ unified negative response surprised him.
“They hated Jim Comey… They wanted him fired,” Trump said. “Then, all of a sudden, they come out with these glowing reports [after I fired him]. Look, it’s politics.”
Comey’s probe into Hillary Clinton’s criminal handling of classified email via her insecure home-brew server – charges the former FBI director laid out in an unprecedented July 2016 news conference – upset Democrats at the time who believed he should not have detailed her activities. He upset Republicans as well because he decided not to recommend, despite the evidence, that she be indicted.
In the interview Trump said Democrats have been “hypocrites” regarding Comey, since his conduct during the Clinton email investigation gave Mrs. Clinton “a free pass” at first, Fox News reported.
Trump also said he was surprised by fellow New Yorker Sen. Chuck Schumer, the Democratic minority leader, because he’s become such a schmuck.
“It’s pretty tough to work with him. I’m surprised, because I’ve known him for a long time,” he said. “I really am surprised that he’s… gone so far left.”
The president was also hopeful that Republicans could win more Senate seats in 2018 to render Schumer’s and the Democrats’ obstruction moot.
“They want to clog up the wheels,” he said of the Democrats. “We can’t let that happen.”
