Trump under fire: White House says prez won’t take anymore press abuse without ‘hitting back’

Trump is returning to his winning combative style he used on the campaign trail

(National SentinelMedia: Washington establishment media beware: The president of the United States has had enough of your constant undermining and unhinged hatred, so from now on when he’s attacked unfairly and in a personal way, Donald J. Trump will “hit back.”

That was the message from a newly combative White House on Friday, as No. 2 administration spokesperson Sarah Huckabee Sanders responded to questions surrounding Trump’s tweets to MSNBC “Morning Joe” co-hosts Joe Scarborough and his fiancee, Mika Brzezinski:

Those tweets not only outraged the MSNBC duo, but the rest of Washington’s Trump-hating press pack.

But what’s been far less reported is what led Trump to tweet that in the first place: Earlier that morning, Scarborough and Brzezinski had (again) attacked Trump personally, making derogatory remarks, among other things, about his “teensy” hands, a subject aimed at undermining his “manhood,” so to speak.

In any event, the president, Huckabee Sanders said, is much more likely in the future to return the combativeness that is his nature, and that he used to his advantage on the campaign trail. Per Roll Call:

An emotional Huckabee Sanders essentially described Trump and his team as mad as hell about what they perceive as being “attacked” by the media. And she signaled the Trump White House isn’t going to take it anymore.

She complained that Trump “has been attacked mercilessly” by news outlets, including Brzezinski and Scarborough’s show. Huckabee Sanders ticked off a list of derogatory things the hosts have said about Trump, including that he is “mentally ill” and has a “personality disorder.”

[…]

When the president is “hit,” she said, “he’s going to hit back.”

“He fights fire with fire,” Huckabee Sanders said.

She further noted that the American people “knew what they were getting” when they put Trump in the White House. In short, voters elected “a fighter.”

She’s right, of course. There’s no question that Trump’s anti-establishment style was part of his broad-based appeal, and getting back to his “not-taking-it” style will be seen by his supporters as exactly the right response to the merciless personal attacks that come daily from an establishment media unhinged by Trump Derangement Syndrome.
