(National Sentinel) Media: We have to admit, initially this one was a head-scratcher. But then we remembered: We’re dealing with the disgustingly dishonest “mainstream” media here, so nothing should surprise us.
In recent weeks, thanks to some true investigative reporting by Breitbart News, both CNN and The Associated Press were exposed for publishing more fake news regarding the Trump administration’s bogus “Russia collusion” narrative. The popular conservative news site’s reporting caused both news agencies to either retract the story or make a noteworthy correction.
That should be celebrated and highlighted by other news organizations as examples of the press doing its job — informing with the truth and with facts, not brainwashing with BS and propaganda.
But The Hill’s Jonathan Easley doesn’t think so. No, he’s blaming Breitbart for pointing out the errors, claiming that by doing so, that even further erodes the public’s trust and confidence in the media (already at historic lows) more so than CNN and AP creating fake news to begin with.
Per his column:
A string of high-profile corrections and retractions by major news organizations on stories about President Trump or his allies have fueled more allegations of bias in the mainstream press.
The relationship between Trump and the news media regularly hits new lows, with insults flying between the two camps and reporters warning that the president is inciting violence against journalists.
But Trump’s allies on the right believe the president’s claims that the mainstream media is “fake news” have been bolstered by recent missteps. They point to recent admissions from top news outlets — including CNN, the New York Times and the Associated Press — that bombshell stories were either overcooked or included incorrect details.
Adding insult to injury: Breitbart News, the pro-Trump media outlet that is scorned by many in the mainstream press, has been fact-checking their mainstream counterparts with some success.
“Insult to injury?” ‘Fact-checking’ with some success? Where is the criticism of the fake news outlets? Aren’t they ultimately responsible for producing bogus content?
And why not complain about the Left-wing “fact-checkers” when they point out errors in the alternative media? Doesn’t that similarly “add insult to injury?”
By the way, the public believes Trump’s claims about the “fake news” press because he is so regularly proven correct.
This is more evidence that the so-called Washington establishment media is not only corrupt, but incestuous. When they are wrong their instinct is to defend the misdeed of their own and attack those who point out the misdeed. It’s all propaganda, all the time.
Good for Breitbart for doing yeoman investigative work in the public’s interest. May they (and others, like us) continue to point out the errors of the mainstream media.Click here for reuse options!
