Memo to the haters: Senate’s failure to repeal Obamacare is NOT Trump’s fault

Have these people never had a U.S. civics lesson?

(National SentinelHealthcare reform: To hear the Washington establishment media tell it, the recent failure of the Senate to move an Obamacare repeal-and-replace measure like majority Republicans have promised for seven years is somehow President Donald J. Trump’s fault.

So are a number of Senate Republicans — the same ones who could not get together and actually pass a bill for the president to sign.

“He was of no help,” one senator complained to The Hill.

“He’s the president of the United States. These people are folks who are looking to him to help them,” said a second Republican senator who criticized Trump’s call to let the law fail since Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., couldn’t convince enough of his colleagues to pass a bill they have passed twice before — when they knew Obama would veto it.

The media is treating this, too, as a Trump fail, not a Senate fail. The New York Post declared, “Trump’s failure to unite GOP led to epic health care reform disaster.” Really? Just how does this president “unite” frequent critics and RINOs like John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Ben Sasse and Tom Cotton under his vision of anything?

The Financial Times blared, “Trump’s healthcare failure undermines reform agenda.” Really? So presidents are solely responsible for implementing their own agenda, even when legislation — which must first come from Congress — is required to do so?

The Hill asked, “Can Trump rebound after failure on healthcare bill?” Really? The better question is, ‘Can the Republican Congress rebound after failing to send the president a bill to sign?’

The expectedly anti-Trump New York Times claimed, “In major defeat for Trump, push to repeal health law fails.” Really? Isn’t the failure to fix the Democrat-passed Obamacare, which is destroying small business budgets and falling apart at the seams, a failure of Congress and a ‘major defeat’ for the average American?

Trump can wail, scream, moan and tweet all he wants about getting an Obamacare repeal-and-replace bill to sign — but unless or until Congress sends him one, it won’t happen.

In our system of government, Congress passes bills; presidents then sign them into law (or veto them). That’s Civics 101, and yet the “mainstream” media, along with whiny GOP senators looking for an excuse to blame someone else for their broken promise, believe that, somehow, President Trump — who has been fighting these clowns since Day One in office, is to blame for this.

He’s not.

Majority Leader McConnell shares some of the blame, but most of it goes to GOP liars like Sens. Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins and Shelly Moore Capito who have voted for full Obamacare repeal in the past (when it was “safe” because Obama was in the Oval Office) but now have found a myriad of excuses not to do so, when they have a president who would sign it.

While the disgusting dishonest establishment press and some Republican senators attempt to lay the blame for this shameful example of why Americans hate the media and Congress, the truth is voters know who’s responsible — and they aren’t blaming the president.
