(National Sentinel) Deep State: You know that the Trump hate is getting out of control in the nation’s capital when a former CIA director calls for a coup against a duly-elected president for simply using his authority to enact policy.
John Brennan, who just left the spy agency, said that if President Donald J. Trump moves to fire special counsel Robert Mueller — which he unquestionably has the authority to do as head of the Executive Branch — other government officials should ignore the president and refuse to follow his orders, because it would be “inconsistent” with the duties of the office.
“I think it’s the obligation of some executive branch officials to refuse to carry that out. I would just hope that this is not going to be a partisan issue. That Republicans, Democrats are going to see that the future of this government is at stake and something needs to be done for the good of the future,” Brennan told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer at the Aspen Security Forum.
This is nothing less than a call for a coup against the president of the United States, should he exercise his authority to end what has so very obviously become nothing more than an effort to depose him.
The relevant exchange comes 43 minutes into the clip below:
Now, keep in mind besides the obvious treason that these two Obama administration members of the Deep State were caught at varying times lying to Congress — and got away with it [Brennan here and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper here]. Also, keep in mind that Trump — as do a number of Washington insiders — sees Mueller’s investigation as little more than a witch hunt since it is based entirely on a false premise: That Team Trump “colluded” with Russia to “steal the election” from Hillary Clinton. There’s no proof of that and there’s never been any proof (because it doesn’t exist).
As for Mueller, both men praised him like just about everyone else on Capitol Hill for being a ‘professional’ and “non-partisan” — despite the fact that a) he was appointed to investigate Trump’s “Russian collusion” just days after applying for the FBI director position; and b) he’s filling his office with Democratic donors and sycophants.
As for these two #nevertrumpers, this is just the latest salvo in an ongoing campaign to depose, in any way possible, a sitting president after being duly, credibly elected by the American people. Frankly, all politics aside, the president should not let this stand.
We don’t care what office Brennan (and to a lesser extent, Clapper) has held in the past: You cannot go on record calling for a coup against the president for any reason, let alone for any legitimate use of his authority as head of the Executive Branch. You cannot reasonably justify telling others in government to ignore the president.
Talk about your constitutional crises.
