Amid ongoing player protests, tickets for NFL games plunge: Report

(National SentinelPoor Sports: Increasing, NFL fans — many now former NFL fans — are making their displeasure about all the players protesting the National Anthem and the flag known: They are voting with their wallets and their time.

Game attendance and prime-time viewership has already been hit, both being down year-to-year from last year. Now, teams are attempting to woo fans back to games by cutting ticket prices.

As the Washington Times reports:

An analysis released Friday by CNBC found that ticket prices during the first three games of the 2017 season enjoyed a 20-40 percent increase over last year, but then skidded in Week 4 and actually dropped by 2 percent in Week 5.

The timing coincides with the uproar following President Trump’s criticism of the protests on Sept. 22, which prompted nearly 200 players to sit or take a knee during the national anthem in the Sept. 24-25 games in Week 3.

“After the president’s comments and NFL player reactions, Week 4 saw only a 5 percent increase, and now we’re seeing an outright decline. So that’s a bad direction,” said CNBC’s Eric Chemi.

Teams (and owners) may be finally getting the message that millionaire players complaining about being maltreated — by police and the country in general — isn’t resonating with the fan base.

During the Week 5 opener on Thursday night, the Times noted that local reporters aid not a single player sat or knelt during the playing of the anthem, which was not aired by CBS Sports.

Keep up the good work EX-NFL fans. It’s only a matter of time before money talks and bullshit walks.
