(National Sentinel) Insulting: Sen. Rand Paul told NBC News‘ Chuck Todd on Sunday that Democrats are making any immigration deal impossible with their constant insulting of President Donald J. Trump.
Democrats and many in the establishment media have called the president racist over his alleged comments last week during negotiations in the White House over an immigrate reform bill that some parts of the world are “sh*tholes.”
“You can’t have an immigration compromise if everyone is out there calling the president a racist,” the Kentucky Republican said. “They’re actually destroying the setting… in which anything meaningful can happen on immigration.”
“Some people in the media have just gone completely bonkers with ad hominem on the president,” he said elsewhere in the interview.
Paul explained further that there would have been less controversy if the president had used different language such as “economically poor countries.”
But, he went on to note that if allowed in, hundreds of millions of people from around the world would come to the United States to live because it is a much better place with far more opportunity than their own countries.
Todd said that allowing immigrants from all over the world into the U.S. is “the story of our country.”
Paul agreed, but noted that the U.S. could not take in anyone and everyone because it simply is not practical.
Trump spoke to reporters Sunday evening at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, in which he defended himself against allegations that he is racist.
“No, no, I’m not a racist. I am the least racist person you have ever interviewed. That I can tell you,” he said.
