(National Sentinel) Insulting our Intelligence: Presidential historian Doug Wead torched Sen. Jeff Flake on Monday after the retiring Arizona Republican said he was planning a floor speech on Wednesday comparing President Donald J. Trump to communist Soviet murderer Josef Stalin.
On Sunday’s “This Week” program, Flake said Trump was like Stalin when he claims that the establishment media is an “enemy of the people.”
“I noted how bad it is for a president…to take what was popularized by Josef Stalin,” in calling the press the “enemy of the people,” Flake said in the interview, describing what he planned to talk about on the Senate floor.
The comments drew a sharp rebuke from Wead, who called them “outrageous.”
“This is outrageous. This is an insult to your intelligence. It’s an insult to the millions of people who died at the hands of that butcher. It’s outrageous!” he said.
“And I saw another comment comparing him (Trump) to Hitler. Both Hitler and Stalin dominated their governments. They dominated the motion picture industry… If anybody thinks that Donald Trump controls the media the way Stalin and Hitler did, they’re crazy.”
Most major media outlets have been highly critical of Trump since before he took office, with many publishing stories that proved to be false.
