(National Sentinel) Pattern of Bias: Special counsel Robert Mueller, long hailed by members of Congress and the political class in D.C. as non-partisan and professional, has hired another Democrat-supporting lawyer for his team investigating alleged “Russian collusion” on the part of President Donald J. Trump and his campaign.
A review of his pieces by The DC found a distinct anti-conservative, pro-liberal Democrat bias and a preference for President Barack Obama and his policies, including efforts to close Guantanamo Bay. He also opposed President George W. Bush’s torture policy while writing articles supportive of gun control and government-imposed limits on corporate CEO salaries.
“Now is the time to begin enacting a progressive political agenda through the ballot box,” he wrote in a 2009 article on gay marriage.
The 34-year-old has been penning Left-leaning political commentary since his undergrad years at Yale University.
Zelinsky has not donated to major Democratic candidates as have nine of 16 attorneys on Mueller’s team that have been publicly exposed. However, he did donate $100 to the Democratic National Committee’s Connecticut branch, in his home state. And he made another $100 donation to a local Democratic state candidate in 2016.
Mueller has come under fire — from President Trump and other Republicans — for the number of open Democratic supporters on his team.
A hallmark of Zelinsky is his constant pressuring for Democrats to become more aggressive politically.
“The Democrats are like the car-enthusiast who spends all of his time working on his sports coup without ever taking it for a spin,” Zelinsky wrote. “No one cares how fast you can go from zero to sixty if you never leave the driveway.”
