(National Sentinel) Feeling Guilty: A liberal Democratic U.S. senator has warned special counsel Robert Mueller not to release his findings in the ongoing Russian collusion-cum-election interference probe, prompting critics to accuse him of being fearful the findings will implicate the Democratic Party.
Sen. Bob Casey of Pennsylvania, in an interview with radio host John Catsimatidis on New York radio station AM 970 on Sunday, Casey said he was not in a position to comment on the course Mueller’s investigation was currently taking following the indictments on Friday of 13 Russians and three Russian firms accused of interference in the 2016 election, ostensibly to assist President Donald J. Trump.
But he said Mueller should not issue any findings before the midterms because he believes they would serve as a distraction and serve to sway the election outcome, The Hill reported.
“I don’t think we’ll know anywhere near the full story until [Mueller] issues his report,” Casey said. “But once you get into the summer, and you get close to the election, I think it’s a mistake for him to release it late. I think you should wait until after [the election].”
Top U.S. intelligence officials warned the Senate last week to expect additional Russian meddling in the 2018 elections.
“There is only one reason why a Democrat would be worried about Mueller’s findings — Democrats believe the findings will hurt them,” The Gateway Pundit observed.
Critics of Casey and the Mueller probe have long noted that the former FBI director does not seem interested in pursuing legitimate connections between the campaign of Hillary Clinton, the Democratic National Committee, and Russian sources.
They point specifically to the so-called “Trump dossier” paid for by the Clinton campaign and the DNC, which was written by former British spy Christopher Steele and sourced to Russian government operatives.
