(National Sentinel) Epic Fail: The FBI was tipped that admitted Parkland, Fla., school shooter Nikolas Cruz was a time bomb set to “explode,” but did not act on the information, The Wall Street Journal reported Saturday.
The paper noted that, according to a transcript of the tip line, a female companion of Cruz said she was concerned he would “get into a school and just shoot the place up.”
The caller, whose identity was redacted, also warned that Cruz “has got the mental capacity of a 12 to a 14-year-old,” and that “he’s so into ISIS” — the acronym for the Islamic State militant group.
The WSJ reported:
The transcript, reviewed by The Wall Street Journal, provides chilling detail about the woman’s efforts on Jan. 5 to warn authorities about Nikolas Cruz’s propensity for violence and his troubled past.
“You know, it’s just so much,” she said on the call, referencing his violent tendencies and his Instagram posts of weapons and statements of how he “wants to kill people.”
“I know he’s—he’s going to explode,” the female caller said, adding that she making the call because she wanted a “clear conscience if he takes off and, and just starts shooting places up.”
She also talked about how Cruz allegedly obtained his mother’s debit card and used it to buy several rifles and lots of ammunition.
The FBI admitted last week that it had received such a call. Also, earlier reports said the bureau was also tipped off last fall but again failed to act.
“Something is gonna happen,” the female caller told the FBI last month. “Because he’s, he doesn’t have the mental capacity. He can’t, he’s so outraged if someone talks to him about certain things.”
She also said that Cruz liked to hurt and kill animals, including frogs and, on at least one occasion, a bird.
“He brought the bird into the house,” she told the FBI. “He threw it on his mother’s kitchen counter and he started cutting it up. He has all kinds of hunting knives. I don’t know what knife he used, though. And he started cutting the bird up, and his mother…said, ‘What’re you doing?’ And he says, ‘I want to see what’s inside.’”
Then the caller said, “That to me would be a red flag.”
She also said that at some point Cruz is set to receive $25,000 a year, perhaps from a life insurance policy, and she was worried he would spend it all on guns.
Cruz had already used his mother’s Social Security money, she said, to purchase “all these rifles and ammunition” and had “posted pictures of them on Instagram.”
“It’s alarming to see these pictures and to know what he’s capable of doing and what could happen,” the caller added. “He’s [been] thrown out of all these schools because he would pick up a chair and just throw it at somebody, a teacher or a student, because he didn’t like the way they were talking to him.”
