(National Sentinel) Out of the Loop: Attorney and Fox News contributor Gregg Jarrett told host Sean Hannity on his program Thursday night that Attorney General Jeff Sessions is AWOL at the Justice Department.
His comments come during a week in which Sessions once again drew the ire of President Donald J. Trump, who appeared to criticize his AG when he announced Wednesday that DoJ would open an investigation into alleged abuses of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court by ranking members of the FBI and Justice Department during the Obama administration.
In a press conference, Sessions said the DoJ inspector general would be handling the probe, though critics — including the president — have leaned on the AG to appoint a special counsel and convene a grand jury.
“Why is A.G. Jeff Sessions asking the Inspector General to investigate potentially massive FISA abuse. Will take forever, has no prosecutorial power and already late with reports on Comey etc. Isn’t the I.G. an Obama guy? Why not use Justice Department lawyers? DISGRACEFUL!” he tweeted.

During his interview with Hannity, Jarrett said Sessions “has been utterly feckless in his responses” to various Obama-era scandals involving spying on Trump’s campaign.
“Look you have an Attorney General who’s recused himself out of the very job. I’ve been saying for a few months, I’m sorry, Jeff Sessions is a good honorable person but he’s not up to the job,” added former U.S. Rep. Jason Chaffetz of Utah, a Fox News contributor.
“He doesn’t have the guts to get what needs to be done. He’s recused himself out of everything,” Chaffetz continued.
“You don’t need a special counsel if you have an Attorney General who can actually move the ball forward.”
“eff Sessions is not the Attorney General. He’s the AG in name only. It is being run by other people,” Jarrett responded.
“Largely [Deputy Attorney General] Rod Rosenstein. Sessions is kept in the dark, out of major decisions. He doesn’t have a clue what’s going on there,” he continued, adding: “And I get that from people inside the DoJ.”
“So do I,” said Hannity.
