(National Sentinel) Presidential Ire: President Donald J. Trump on Thursday said prior to a Cabinet meeting that Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf’s warning to illegal immigrants last week was “a disgrace” and that the administration is looking at possible legal responses.
“She warned them all, ‘Scatter.’ So instead of taking in a 1,000 they took in a fraction of that,” he said of a pre-planned sweep of illegal aliens by agents of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
“What the mayor of Oakland did the other day was a disgrace. They had close to 1,000 people..ready to be taken off the streets, 80 percent with criminal records,” said the president.
“After her warning, they took in about 150… With respect to her, what she did is incredible,” Trump continued. “It’s dangerous in respect to ICE and border patrol. She made law enforcement much more dangerous than it had to be. So we’re looking at that situation very carefully.”
Schaaf not only warned illegal aliens of the pending ICE raids, she later called ICE agents and immigration enforcement “racist,” an accusation echoed later by Gov. Jerry Brown (D) and Democratic members of the California legislature.
Acting ICE Director Thomas Homan slammed Schaaf for using on a classified tip to notify the public about the impending operation. He compared her actions to a “gang lookout yelling ‘police.’”
He has also said that her actions put ICE officers in danger along with the entire Oakland community.
On Wednesday during a speech before a California law enforcement organization Attorney General Jeff Sessions also chastized Schaaf.
“Here’s my message to Mayor Schaaf–how dare you. How dare you needlessly endanger the lives of our law enforcement officers to promote a radical, open borders agenda,” he said.
