Kellyanne Conway to Hillary: ‘Stop saying you’re a feminist’

White House Counselor Kellyanne Conway advised former 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hilary Clinton to “stop pretending you’re a feminist” Thursday on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends” after Clinton accused women of checking with “your husband, your boss, your son” before voting for President Donald Trump.

Clinton, still sore over losing to Trump in 2016, made her inflammatory comments during a conference in India Saturday. She accused Trump of running a campaign that was “looking backwards,” noting that Democrats “do not do well with white men, and we don’t do well with married, white women. And part of that is an identification with the Republican Party and a sort of ongoing pressure to vote the way that your husband, your boss, your son, whoever, believes you should.”

Exit polls showed that 52 percent of white women voted for Trump while just 43 percent voted for Clinton.

Conway, who in 2016 became the first female U.S. presidential campaign manager to lead her candidate to victory, was having none of that from Clinton.

“And let me tell you something, lady — the idea that I, or other women like me have to ask our husbands how to vote, it’s really a joke … particularly since this country knows who you are, first and foremost, because of whom you married,” Conway said.

“And so stop pretending you’re a feminist, you’re for equality, you’re for fairness for women, and then running around accusing us of checking with our husbands and significant others before we vote,” Conway continued. “But you know what? Keep rolling the tape. So many Democrats want her to stop. So many Republicans want her to continue.”

Lifestraw Water Filter

Conway said that Clinton’s most recent batch of derogatory comments was “reminiscent” of her infamous “basket of deplorables” comment during the 2016 campaign about Trump supporters. Clinton faced intense backlash after she said “you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the ‘basket of deplorables'” during a fundraiser in New York.

“They’re racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic — you name it,” Clinton had said. “And unfortunately, there are people like that. And [Trump] has lifted them up.”

Conway said Clinton is “insulting us all over again.”

“She wasn’t sorry she said that. She was sorry she got caught saying that,” Conway said. “She basically is again insulting half of the country, at least half of the country.”

“Look how many people revolted in 2016 against that woman who lost the campaign whose name I never say on TV anymore,” Conway continued. “She lost the election because they saw her as somebody who had special privileges, somebody who didn’t play by the rules and there wasn’t fairness that applied. They were quickly reminded this week why they made a great choice in 2016.”
