(National Sentinel) Legal Eagle: Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is joining President Donald J. Trump’s legal team and said he hopes to be able to negotiate an end to the ongoing “Russian collusion” probe in short order.
“I’m going to join the legal team to try to bring this to a resolution…in a week or two,” Giuliani, a longtime supporter of the president, told the New York Post.
“The country deserves it. I’ve got great admiration for President Trump.
“I’ve had a long relationship with [special counsel] Bob Mueller. I have great respect for him. He’s done a good job,” Giuliani — who was NYC’s mayor when Mueller was FBI director.
“I don’t know yet what’s outstanding. But I don’t think it’s going to take more than a week or two to get a resolution. They’re almost there.
“I’m going to ask Mueller, ‘What do you need to wrap it up?’” he said.
“What I did for New York City, Donald Trump will do for America,” the former mayor said at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland in the summer of 2016.
“I have known Donald Trump for almost 30 years. And he has created and accomplished great things. But beyond that this is a man with a big heart. Every time New York City suffered a tragedy, Donald Trump was there to help.”
Trump lead counsel Jay Sekulow said Thursday that former federal prosecutors Jane Serene Raskin and Marty Raskin, a couple who manage a Florida-based law firm, have also agreed to join the legal team, The Washington Post reported.
