(National Sentinel) Patriotic: President Donald Trump has better things to do than to ‘celebrate’ a victory with a bunch of pampered millionaire athletes who use America for a massive paycheck to play a game but refuse to honor the country that enriches them.
So POTUS has disinvited the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles from the traditional post-victory White House visit over players’ refusal to stand for the National Anthem.
Instead, Trump will still attend the White House event with Eagles fans and real patriots and heroes — members of the U.S. military.
Per a statement from the POTUS:
“The Philadelphia Eagles are unable to come to the White House with their full team to be celebrated tomorrow.
“They disagree with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem, hand on heart, in honor of the great men and women of our military and the people of our country,” Trump said in a Monday evening statement.
“The Eagles wanted to send a smaller delegation, but the 1,000 fans planning to attend the event deserve better. These fans are still invited to the White House to be part of a different type of ceremony—one that will honor our great country, pay tribute to the heroes who fight to protect it, and loudly and proudly play the National Anthem,” he continued.
“I will be there at 3:00 p.m. with the United States Marine Band and the United States Army Chorus to celebrate America,” he said.
POTUS Trump is very patriotic and has long criticized players who kneel or sit during the National Anthem, first begun by former quarterback Colin Kaepernick as a means of protesting alleged police injustices against black men.
Trump and millions of fans agree that the kneeling is a blatant sign of disrespect for the country — and they are spot-on correct. There are other ways of protesting perceived injustices (and other venues) than essentially spitting on your country’s national symbols — while gladly taking millions of dollars from American fans to play a game.
Update: Not a single Eagles player took a knee last season. But as White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders explained, pretty much every player on the team had decided not to come to the White House. Only about 10 people from the team — including the mascot — were going to come, and about five or so of them were players. So she correctly noted during her press gaggle today that the Eagles players effectively abandoned their fans who were going to show up to the White House event to celebrate with them.
“Unfortunately, the Eagles offered to send only a tiny handful of representatives, while making clear that the great majority of players would not attend the event, despite planning to be in D.C. today. In other words, the vast majority of the Eagles team decided to abandon their fans.”
