(National Sentinel) Passion: There should be no doubt in anyone’s mind — unless you’re just a far-Left hater — that Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., loves our country.
We hate it that he’s retiring but we get it: Congress is a frustrating place…a den of thieves, miscreants, and self-centered, self-serving blowhards whose only real concern is getting reelected.
Gowdy and the majority of Republicans aren’t like that. They want to see our country do well. They want to see us safe, prosperous, and powerful. That’s all of us, not just conservatives.
But they are being thwarted in their efforts to get to the bottom of several massive scandals by careerists at the Justice Department and the FBI to the point where Gowdy thinks they’re harming domestic tranquility.
At hearing this morning of the House Judiciary Committee, Gowdy blasted FBI Director Christopher Wray and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein for allowing special counsel Robert Mueller to drag out his “Russian collusion” probe into the Trump campaign and administration well past the point where, had he found any evidence of it, the evidence should have already been presented to a grand jury.
And he let them have it.
“So, I’m going to say this to you Mr. Wray, Mr. Rosenstein: I realize that neither one of you were there when this happened, but you’re both there now.
“Russia attacked this country. They should be the target,” he continued.
“But Russia isn’t being hurt by this investigation. We are,” said Gowdy. “This country is being hurt by it. We are being divided.
“We’ve seen the bias. We’ve seen the bias” in the FBI and Justice Department, the former federal prosecutor noted. “We need to see the evidence.
“If you have evidence of wrongdoing by any member of the Trump campaign, present it to the damn grand jury,” he said. “If you have evidence that this president acted inappropriately, present it to the American people.”
Gowdy noted the old expression, “Justice delayed is justice denied.” He added: “I think right now all of us are being denied.”
“Whatever you’ve got, finish it the hell up,” Gowdy demanded, “because this country is being torn apart.”
