(National Sentinel) Compelling: The FBI’s former No. 2 counterintelligence official and noted anti-POTUS Donald Trump antagonizer Peter Strzok has been slapped with a congressional subpoena to appear during an open hearing.
It will be interesting to see which questions he chooses to answer and how many times he uses the Fifth Amendment to avoid self-incrimination.
As the Washington Examiner reports:
Peter Strzok, the FBI counterintelligence agent who said “we’ll stop” then-candidate Donald Trump from becoming president, has been subpoenaed to openly testify before the House Judiciary and Oversight Committees on July 10 — after his lawyer recently said the date would not work.
The House Judiciary Committee said it subpoenaed Strzok on Tuesday to testify publicly next Wednesday morning as part of the panels’ joint investigation into the Justice Department and FBI’s actions during the 2016 presidential election.
The FBI agent appeared before the two panels last week to give a closed-door interview, which lasted nearly 11 hours.
Naturally, Strzok’s lawyer has lashed out at Republicans and blamed them for politicizing the process while leaking information.
Of course, it doesn’t get more political than an FBI agent vowing to “stop” a legitimate Republican presidential candidate from becoming president.
So looking down the road, we have to assume that Strzok will lawyer up and wrap himself in the Constitution to avoid taking responsibility for allowing himself to be politicized and used as a pawn by Barack Obama. That means the House has to be thinking about what comes next.
Actually, the Jeff Sessions-run Justice Department should be thinking about what’s coming next for Strzok. Will he?
