(National Sentinel) Zero Tolerance: In June the disgustingly dishonest establishment media created an immigration ‘crisis’ out of whole cloth when they began focusing on President Donald Trump’s “zero tolerance” policy involving illegal immigrants.
Trump ended the “catch-and-release” policies of the two prior administrations and, as a deterrent, began detaining all who crossed illegally so they could be prosecuted.
After all, attempting to sneak into the country is against our law, like it is a violation of the law for just about every other country on the planet.
In the process, immigration officials were separating any children who were accompanying adult illegal aliens, which is what the Left-wing media began focusing on.
The media purposefully misreported the story and misrepresented the Trump administration policy, claiming that kids were being “ripped” from their parents at the border.
Nothing could be further from the truth. Children were being separated from adults, yes — a policy that POTUS Trump has since ended — but as it turns out, the vast majority of kids showing up at the border with adults were not related.
Now, kids and illegal alien adults won’t be separated if they’re related. The Trump administration has ordered DNA tests to be conducted on kids and adults who are caught entering the U.S. illegally to determine if they are related. That’s another illegal immigration-related expense taxpayers will have to pick up.
The media’s concocted “crisis” has had one desired effect: It has energized the Democratic Party’s Leftist lunatic fringe which has singled out the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency for their wrath.
But is the manufactured crisis having an effect where it matters most for Democrats — among the electorate?
In a word, NO.
In fact, it’s having just the opposite effect. It’s motivating Republican voters to go to the polls during the November midterms.
A new Reuters survey found that immigration has become a top issue for voters, surpassing the economy (because Trump seems to have already fixed that). But more importantly for POTUS Trump and Republican lawmakers, it’s motivating more of their supporters:
Immigration tops the economy and healthcare as the most important issue determining Americans’ vote ahead of the midterm elections in November, a new Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll shows.
Reuters/Ipsos data shows that immigration became a top concern for registered voters in the United States after the Trump administration in May announced its “zero tolerance” policy on illegal immigrants, saying they would be criminally charged. The policy became a political lightning rod in mid-June with disclosures that thousands of children were separated from their parents who were accused of crossing illegally into the country.
The poll, conducted between June 28 and July 2, found:
– Fifteen percent of U.S. registered voters said immigration was the top issue determining how they will cast their ballot in November, while 14 percent said the economy was their biggest concern.
– Twenty-six percent of registered Republicans cited immigration as the most important issue likely to determine their vote, up 14 percentage points from a similar poll conducted at the beginning of June.
– Healthcare remains the top issue for registered Democrats (16 percent), followed by the economy (14 percent), the Reuters/Ipsos poll shows. Seven percent of Democrats cited immigration as their top concern.
Once again the dishonest establishment media and Democrats have misfired on an issue involving the president and his supporters.
Poll after poll has shown Americans want border security, less immigration, and legal immigration. In other words, they are with the president and Republicans on the issue of stopping illegal immigration and bolstering border security.
This latest survey is just more proof of those facts.
