(National Sentinel) Loophole: While 24-year-old Cristhian Rivera, suspected of killing University of Iowa student Mollie Tibbetts, may not be in the U.S. legally, he does have a ‘legal’ tie to the United States.
In a stunning development, the UK Daily Mail reported Saturday that Rivera had a child with a former classmate of Tibbetts’ — Iris Monarrez, who was one grade ahead of her at Brooklyn, Guernsey, and Malcom High School.
The newspaper reported exclusively that Rivera had also been following another high schooler — the younger sister of Brooklyn, Iowa resident Bailey Gibson, 18 in the same manner that Rivera had been following Tibbetts the day he allegedly killed her.
“I know Cristhian from my sister. She thought he was a nice, well-spoken person. They hung out a few times but nothing really happened romantically,” she told the Daily Mail.
“She told me that a little while ago he drove up to her while she was walking through Brooklyn. He told her she was really pretty and things like that,” Gibson continued.
“It was more flirty than sexual but my sister is very shy. She didn’t appreciate it. Even though she knew him a little she felt unsafe and didn’t want to talk to him.
“In the end, she was really creeped out by his behavior. She had to keep telling him she wasn’t interested,” said Gibson. “It all clicked when we heard the news. It’s so scary to think he did something similar with my sister,” she continued, asking that her sister’s name not be revealed.
Another twist to the story is the fact that Rivera has an anchor baby in the U.S. with Monarrez, who was in court recently with the child during an appearance by Rivera. He’s being held on $5 million bond faces deportation or life in prison.
The Daily Mail said that the couple had the child — a girl — in 2015. The report continued:
Monarrez is friends on Facebook with Mollie Tibbetts and her brothers Scott and Jake.
DailyMail.com can reveal she attended the same school, Brooklyn, Guernsey, and Malcom High, as Mollie but was in the year above.
She was dating Rivera throughout her years at the school, raising the possibility that Rivera knew of Mollie years before he abducted and allegedly killed her.
One loophole in U.S. law is that, under the Fourteenth Amendment, children born in the U.S. to illegal alien parents are automatically U.S. citizens, though obviously, Monarrez is already a citizen.
But it appears as though Rivera had a modus operandi and was preparing to line up his next victim, perhaps — the sister of Bailey Gibson.
And all this while he had a girlfriend and a child he should have been taking care of.
It’s not at all clear that Mollie Tibbetts’ death — allegedly by Rivera, an illegal immigrant — will have any impact at all on Democrats in Congress who are oblivious to the pain and suffering caused by such senseless and preventable criminal acts. But hopefully, Americans will speak for them at the polls in November by tossing more of them out of Washington.
