(National Sentinel) Clean House: Sen. Lindsey Graham said on Fox News Sunday in an interview with Chris Wallace that he believes the Justice Department and FBI had engaged in a “bureaucratic coup” attempt to undermine or oust POTUS Donald Trump.
“During the campaign, it’s clear the Department of Justice and the FBI were tipping the scales for [former Secretary of State Hillary] Clinton. This revelation after President Trump was sworn in shows they were trying to undermine the election. There’s a bureaucratic coup going on at the Department of Justice and the FBI and somebody needs to look at it,” the South Carolina Republican said.
Wallace then asked Graham about a New York Times report on Friday claiming that Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein once plotted to secretly record POTUS Trump and attempt to have him removed via the 25th Amendment.
Rosenstein has disputed the Times’ report. He said he made a sarcastic remark during a meeting with fired FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, who then made the allegation in memos that he gave to special counsel Robert Mueller.
McCabe was fired for lying to investigators, it must be said.
For his part, Graham said Rosenstein should not be fired until the matter is properly investigated and found to be true. But he also added that Rosenstein should not be leading the Mueller investigation, either.
“He shouldn’t fire Rosenstein unless you believe Rosenstein is lying,” he said. “I don’t know what Rosenstein did, but I know what McCabe, Ohr, Page, and Strzok did,” referring to Justice Department official Bruce Ohr and former FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page.
“They tried to destroy this president. If Rosenstein is involved he should be fired. If he is not involved, leave him alone, but he can’t make that decision,” Graham said.
