(National Sentinel) Staying Put: Sen. Lindsey Graham told reporters on Monday that he has “zero interest” in working for POTUS Donald Trump and that he’s “definitely” running again for the Senate.
“Well, I’m going to run [for Senate] again — there ya go, you made news — I’m definitely running,” Graham told a reporter outside of a Pickens County GOP event, The Daily Caller reported. “I enjoy my job. I think I’m better at it today than I’ve ever been. I love my job. I love representing the people of our state.”
There are rumors that Graham, R-S.C., has been angling to replace Jeff Sessions as attorney general with his effusive praise for POTUS and his recent passionate defense of Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
This is a paragraph of content.
But he quashed those rumors about as forcefully as anyone could on Monday.
“I have zero interest in serving in President Trump’s cabinet,” Graham said. “I like him, I want to help him be successful. I think I can do more good for the country and help President Trump more effectively by being in the Senate and I will help him where I can and say no when I have to, and I’m going to continue to be South Carolina’s voice the best I know how to be.”
He added: “I’m at a time in my life when I feel like all the things I’ve done before have made me the most effective in terms of representing the people in the state,” Graham said. “If they’ll have me, I’ll keep doing it.”
Graham reportedly played golf with POTUS Trump after the Senate on Saturday confirmed Kavanaugh as the nation’s 114th SCOTUS justice.
Reporters and pundits continue to speculate on @LindseyGrahamSC plans for the future.
Tonight in South Carolina he again made it clear:
1) Definitely running for reelection to the Senate in 2020.
2) ZERO INTEREST in serving as Attorney General or in the Cabinet.
