This principal told a student to remove his Trump jersey, and now SHE is gone

(National SentinelTrumped: A North Carolina high school principal has been replaced after she ordered a student to remove his pro-Trump jersey at a patriotic event during a football game.

Former Harnett Central High School Principal Cindy Gordon asked 18-year-old Matthew Collins to remove his jersey because she said it was political, WRAL reported on Friday.

The front of the shirt read “USA” in red, white, and blue while the back of the jersey had “Trump” with the number “45” below.

The former principal told Collins that some parents had complained about his shirt (so what?) and as such he would have to remove it if he wanted to remain at the game, according to the teen’s father, Michael Collins, WRAL reported.

Matthew Collins did wind up leaving the game.

But why should he have left? The station reported that students were encouraged to dress patriotically for the Oct. 5 football game, ABC11 added.

Patriotism is inherently political, or it can be. So what’s the problem wearing a shirt that honors and recognizes the president of the United States, no matter who he is?

“As long as the expression does not disrupt, and is not reasonably expected to disrupt, the educational mission of the school system, these rights include wearing clothing expressing political messages or supporting political candidates,” Harnett County school district spokeswoman Natalie Ferrell said, ABC11 reported.

Michael Collins, a registered Democrat, said his son’s jersey was not meant to promote President Donald Trump.

“We’re not promoting Donald Trump,” Michael Collins told ABC11. “He’s our president. Again you’ve got to respect your president.”

Catherine Jones, the current principal at Harnett Primary, will replace Gordon, the school said in a statement.

“Again, we want to emphasize that Harnett County Schools supports and affirms students’ rights to express themselves — including wearing clothing expressing political messages or supporting political candidates or officeholders — in ways that are not expected to disrupt school or school events,” the statement said.

I wasn’t wondering how they could defend forbidding the name of the President of the United States on a shirt at a patriotic event. See, that was their first mistake. Should have called it a “resistance” event.

Glad the principal was fired. This should be a warning to school principals across the country to not try to impose their own beliefs or exclude another’s beliefs.

They need to make sure they didn’t just transfer her to another school to impose her pathetic liberal agenda on some other unsuspecting child. She should lose her teaching credentials.

Since when does anyone have the right to tell someone what they can or cannot were at a sporting event?
When did it become permissible for one person to veto another persons personal choice?
This is Political Correctness run amok.
There will always be someone who doesn’t like what another person does.
Screw them, and do what you like, as long as you are not breaking the law!

Hey, we all know there is at least a 50% chance the principle lied about getting complaints. I’d bet money on it. I was asked to help proctor end of year level testing at a nearby Harnett County High School in 2011. One of the student refused to take the test and started being disruptive so I sent him out of the class to the Vice Principle. The VP sent him back in. I was livid at his casual attitude about adding a serious issue to the class when many of the students were very stressed about the test. I… Read more »

About time a Leftie school official got their come-uppance. I’ll bet the student was elated. This was truly a “feel good” article. November 6th should be awesome.

The article says the principal’s name is Cindy Gordon which is not mentioned in the press release.
