Border Patrol agent to media: Camp by river and ‘see how safe you are’

(National SentinelUnsecure: The vice president of a local Border Patrol union said during an interview with Breitbart News that anyone in the media who thinks there are no dangers along the U.S.-Mexico boundary should take the time to test that claim on their own.

When asked how safe it is along large portions of the border, Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol Agent Chris Cabrera, talking as vice-president of the National Border Patrol Council Local 3373, said, “My response [to people who say the area is safe] is grab a tent and set up shop for a couple of days — see how safe you are.”

Cabrera then talked about one incident involving a CBS News reporter and producer to illustrate the dangers along the border as they were watching an illegal crossing in July.

Reporter David Begnaud went to Roma, Texas, over the summer to do a story about Texas landowners who own property along the U.S.-Mexico border and have received notices concerning POTUS Donald Trump’s proposed border wall.

While filming a segment for the report along the Rio Grande River, Begnaud was surprised to see a group of illegal aliens cross into the U.S. in broad daylight just a few hundred yards from a U.S. Customs and Border Protection entry point.

He and his producer were more surprised — and concerned — when a man with a portable radio approached them and ordered them to leave the area. The report said the man who confronted them was a “scout,” a person who most likely works directly for a drug and human smuggling cartel.

“I’ll tell you, we were scared,” Begnaud said. “It was ominous to listen to him and he clearly was letting us know that it was time to get out.”

Cabrera said communities along the border are generally safe, but the actual border regions are far from it. Cartels mean business and their ’employees’ will resort to violence in order to get their cargoes into the U.S.

That includes Border Patrol agents.

“It’s evolved so much,” Cabrera said. “Years ago, the mentality was ‘they never shoot at a Border Patrol agent.’ They don’t want that kind of heat on them.

“History has shown, in the not too distant past, that they will shoot at us and they have shot at us,” he continued. “Even civilians, they’ll go after them — anybody that they see as a threat — they’ll go after them and usually it doesn’t turn out well.”

The Koch Brothers and other corporate RINOs aside, the country needs POTUS Trump’s proposed border wall. Hat’s off to House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., for making a fully-funded wall a 2018 midterm campaign issue.

  1. McCarthy is a consistent supporter of the liberal Paul Ryan, the major obstacle to the wall. Ryan is a leftist on immigration. McCarthy never mentioned a wall until just now. The reason is he does not favor one but sees an actual leader, Jordan, who has endorsed a wall for years, surpassing him in popularity. It would be silly to trust a RINO promise from McCarthy for after the election, give that the RINOs have broken so many promises.

Jordan has said for years fund the wall now. That’s an actual leader.
