Deep State arrest: Treasury official busted for leaking Paul Manafort docs to Buzzfeed

(National SentinelHammer Down: The Trump administration is finally getting around to punishing Deep State operatives who have been united in their efforts to undermine POTUS Donald Trump and his efforts to Make America Great Again.

On Wednesday, federal authorities arrested Natalie May Edwards, 40, a senior adviser in the Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), charging her with leaking — ‘unauthorized disclosure’ — suspicious activity reports, according to U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman. She is scheduled to make an appearance before a federal court in Virginia later today.

She is charged with leaking information pertaining to former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort and his longtime business associate Richard Gates, as well as reports connected to the Russian embassy and accused Russian spy Maria Butina.

As Reuters notes:

The disclosures were reported in a series of articles in BuzzFeed related to Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation of possible coordination between U.S. President Donald Trump’s 2016 election campaign and Russia, according to prosecutors.

The most recent article appeared on Monday and centered on a loan made by TD Bank to Prevezon, citing records uncovered by FinCEN in connection with investigations by Congress and Mueller.

Prosecutors said Edwards saved the confidential reports on a flash drive and sent them to the BuzzFeed reporter using an encrypted messaging application. They said that at the time of her arrest, she was in possession of what appeared to be that flash drive, and a cell phone containing communications with the reporter.

One question that immediately comes to mind is this: Did she or someone she knows leak former Trump attorney Michael Cohen’s financial information to porn star lawyer Michael Avenatti?

There’s also this: What is Buzzfeed‘s responsibility in this?
