(National Sentinel) Security: Defense Secretary James Mattis is expected to sign an order that would send around 800 more U.S. troops to the southwestern border with Mexico as thousands of migrants continue to caravan towards the United States.
The troops — regular Army forces — are expected to provide additional “logistical support” on the ground, including tents and transportation, Fox News reported.
The network reported further that it’s not yet clear which units are being tasked, but added that Mattis was expected to sign the order as soon as today.
The additional forces will join some 2,100 National Guard troops currently deployed along the U.S.-Mexico border.
Most of them are unarmed and are also providing logistical support to Border Patrol and other immigration services so that they can deploy more agents along the border.
POTUS Donald Trump tweeted Thursday morning that “I am bringing out the military for this National Emergency. They will be stopped!”
We reported earlier that former federal prosecutor Sydney Powell told Breitbart News Radio that under current law, the president has all the authority he needs to essentially seal the border and refuse entry to any immigrants.
