Senate to FBI: Investigate the creepy porn lawyer Michael Avenatti over Kavanaugh claims

(National SentinelJustice: It’s not clear year what impact it will have if any at all, but Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, has asked the Justice Department to launch an investigation into creepy porn lawyer Michael Avenatti and his client, Julie Swetnick because they likely provided his panel with “materially false” information when they accused Justice Brett Kavanaugh of participating in gang rapes.

The Washington Times reports:

Mr. Grassley suggested Mr. Avenatti invented clients to try to embarrass Justice Kavanaugh, and the senator said Ms. Swetnick — the only client who did come forward — gave multiple versions of her story.

The Iowa Republican, long an advocate for whistleblowers, said he welcomed “well-meaning” complaints from citizens.

But he went onto essentially say that whistleblowers have to provide accurate information as well.

“But in the heat of partisan moments, some do try to knowingly mislead the committee. That’s unfair to my colleagues, the nominees and others providing information who are seeking the truth,” he said.

Swetnick made several allegations that Kavanaugh, during his high school days, set up and/or participated in “rape trains” — drugging girls who were then put in bedrooms to be serially raped by several young men.

Kavanaugh vehemently denied the allegations and Swetnick could never provide any corroborating evidence for her claims.

In fact, in an MSNBC interview following Avenatti’s announcement of the allegations, she appeared to back off several claims.

“The only apparent commonality between Ms. Swetnick and Judge Kavanaugh is that they both lived in Montgomery County, Maryland in the early 1980s. That is not particularly meaningful for determining whether they knew each other,” Grassley wrote.

Lying to Congress is a federal crime, even if you’re not under oath.

“I ask that the FBI investigate whether Mr. Avenatti criminally conspired with Ms. Swetnick to make materially false statements to the committee and obstruct the committee’s investigation,” Mr. Grassley wrote.

  1. Grassley picks a convenient target as part of his effort to act tough. He is a coward. There will be no ethics investigation of Feinstein. He has not called for a perjury investigation into Ford. Those 2 are the real culprits in this episode, which could have been a DOJ operation.

Grassley has been equally ineffective investigating the DOJ. He “demanded” documents and witnesses, does not get them, and does not subpoena, then does and hides.
