(National Sentinel) Predictable: As has been the case in previous mass shootings, it didn’t take long for Democrats to call for ‘new, sensible gun control measures’ following the mass murder of congregants at a Pittsburgh synagogue by an anti-Semitic maniac.
The shooting suspect, identified as Robert Bowers, was reportedly armed with an AR-15-style rifle (which is not an “assault weapon”) and a number of handguns. Bowers’ social media accounts were rife with anti-Semitic rhetoric and he was said to have yelled “All Jews must die!” during the shooting spree which killed at least 11 and injured four police officers.
At present, we don’t yet know if Bowers passed all of the required background checks and other Left-wing constructs aimed at “infringing” on the Second Amendment, but we’d say chances are pretty good that he did since we’ve not read anything indicating he had a disqualifying police record.
But none of that matters to Democrats, who always defer to their default position on guns when incidents like these occur — fewer guns are better.
“Congress is complicit—by its inaction—in this loathsome epidemic of gun violence,” Democratic Connecticut Sen. Richard Blumenthal wrote on Twitter.
“I don’t want to arm synagogues and churches and schools. I want to live in a society where nazism and white supremacy crawls back in a hole and we have universal background checks,” wrote Democratic Hawaii Sen. Brian Schatz.
“Every time this happens, we’re shocked – and say it mustn’t happen again. When will opponents of common-sense gun safety work with us?” wrote Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla, who is locked in a tight reelection race against Gov. Rick Scott (R). “We need to get assault weapons off the streets and out of the hands of those who would do us harm.”
“We need more than thoughts and prayers-we need action to stop these senseless deaths from gun violence,” added Democratic Delaware Sen. Chris Coons.
What is it about Democrats wanting to punish the vast majority of ‘responsible’ gun owners after incidents like these, especially when they are being protected by men and women bearing similar types of weapons?
And what is it about Democrats that makes it incapable for them to understand the part of the Second Amendment that says the right to keep and bear arms “shall not be infringed?”
The answer isn’t more gun control. Because under our Constitution, that can’t be the answer.
