As we enter the second week of a partial government shutdown over Democrats’ refusal to give POTUS Donald Trump a paltry $5 billion for border security measures including the construction of a wall, the party of the donkey continues to claim they support it.
On Dec. 19, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said on the chamber floor Democrats have consistently supported “smart border security.”
But is that true? Hardly. In fact, their voting record shows just the opposite.
During an appearance on “Fox & Friends” Sunday morning, author and conservative columnist Deroy Murdock broke down Democrats’ record on so-called “border security” and illegal immigration.
— Consistently voted against “Kate’s Law,” a measure named after Kate Steinle, who was killed by an illegal alien in San Francisco in 2015. It imposes stiff fines and prison terms on persons who repeatedly enter the U.S. illegally.
— Begun to support the elimination of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, Homeland Security’s internal illegal immigration enforcement division.
— Vehemently opposed the construction of POTUS Trump’s border wall despite proof that substantial barriers work.
— Back so-called “sanctuary” laws and policies that forbid local and state police from cooperating with federal immigration authorities to remove illegal aliens.
— Opposed the president’s decision to send the National Guard and regular Army to the border to beef up barrier security and assist Border Patrol personnel, even as thousands of caravan migrants were making their way to the U.S. with the intent to cross illegally.
— Opposed the president’s executive order that halts abuses of our nation’s asylum laws.
— Opposed POTUS’ executive orders banning migrants from countries with a heavy terrorist presence.
