Memo to McCarthy: Conservatives are sick of playing nice with Democrats out to destroy our republic

By Jon Dougherty, editor-in-chief

As news broke late Wednesday that POTUS Donald Trump acquiesced to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s demand that he hold off giving the annual State of the Union Address until the current partial government shutdown is over, you could almost hear the collective groan from the president’s massive grassroots base.

The president made his decision after the California Democrat announced in a letter to the White House that she won’t allow a resolution ‘authorizing’ the president to come to the House chamber to deliver the SOTU.

“I am writing to inform you that the House of Representatives will not consider a concurrent resolution authorizing the President’s State of the Union address in the House Chamber until government has opened,” she wrote yesterday.

In seeking to assauge conservatives’ angst over this petty insult, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) went on Sean Hannity’s Fox News program Wednesday evening to whine.

“I truly believe history will mark this as a low point for the Speaker of the House, for that office, to disinvite this president. That’s why tomorrow, Sean, I am bringing forth to the floor a privileged resolution disapproving of the actions of this Speaker,” McCarthy said.

Yeah, probably. Depending on who is writing the history. But so what?

“So what speaker Pelosi is doing is almost acting like a dictator,” McCarthy continued. “By bringing a privileged resolution allows a vote on the floor to disapprove of this action. Because I believe, at no other time in America, it is more important now to have the president, the senators, the House members, Republican and Democrats alike, all in one place talking about where America’s at today and where we can go in the future.”

True. We agree. It is important, especially now.

“This is bigger than just our country. The world watches the State of the Union. And you know what’s most concerning to me? Since 1934 there has not been a state of the union past February 2nd. She is putting politics before people and she’s running it almost like a dictatorship,” he added.

Well, yeah, she is, Mr. Minority Leader. What else is new? She is an authoritarian leader of an increasingly authoritarian party whose objective is to regain power any possible way it can — through the normal election process, through election theft, through vote fraud.

Any. Way. Possible. And after what happened to Republicans in McCarthy’s state during the midterms, any member of the GOP who still doesn’t comprehend what the Democratic objective is — obtaining power by any means — is of no use to our party or the cause of preserving our republic as it was founded.

No, that doesn’t mean bringing back slavery. Or rescinding women’s suffrage. Or reversing the civil rights movement. Or reimposing “white rule.” Any liberal who really thinks that is brainwashed.

We’re talking about bringing back constitutional government. We’re talking about reinvigorating our governing institutions. We’re talking about bringing sanity back to the Judiciary. We’re talking about preserving American traditions and culture — like working hard to get ahead; valuing family and life; encouraging and emulating success; supporting capitalism as the most successful economic model ever devised; promiting individual liberty and freedom; getting big, fat, inefficient government out of our lives as much as possible so Democrats can’t use shutdowns as political leverage.

It’s nice that McCarthy went on TV to defend the president and blame Pelosi. But what does has that changed?

Does he think he’s going to shame Pelosi into doing the right thing? How? She is from a tiny district in San Francisco whose far-Left voters will continue electing her to office 10 years after she’s dead. She doesn’t have to compromise or ‘play nice’ so she’s not going to.

The ‘solution,’ then, is to simply never give in to her or her increasingly extreme Democratic colleagues. For goodness sake, during the midterms, Democratic voters elected self-declared socialists who espouse a Marx-like political and social ideology that is 180 degrees the polar opposite of constitutional republicanism.

This is the direction the Democrat Party is trending, by the way.

Why ever give into them? Especially when they are never going to compromise with us?

In POTUS Trump, American conservatives believed they had a fighter who would, politically speaking, give the middle finger to militant Democrats who aren’t interested in “governing” unless they have enough power to impose their agenda on every single American (Obamacare comes to mind).

And for the most part, we do have a fighter president. But we need him to fight even harder, as difficult as it’s been for him.

We are in a battle for the heart and soul of our country. We’re in a war we simply cannot afford to lose, because if we do, America as it was founded and as it has stood for nearly 230 years will vanish. It will descend into some gigantic Venezuelan hell hole, where only the Marxist elite will have a life worth living.

We can’t allow that to happen. And whining about Pelosi on Fox News isn’t going to change a damned thing.

The very least we should expect from conservatives is for them to put on their big boy and big girl pants, stand shoulder to shoulder with the president, and tell Democrats that no matter what happens, conservatives are not simply going to go away, vanish quietly into the night, and subject ourselves to lives of Left-wing oppression — and we’re already close to that.

The president should inform Pelosi that she can continue to play the role of House Nazi for as long as she wants, but that he will continue to govern as the Constitution allows that that for certain, he will give a SOFU address at a time and place of his choosing, and soon.

We need to hear from you, Mr. President. After another cave-in to another Democrat whose objective is not compromise but complete destruction of all political opposition, we need to hear that you’re still leading us.

That’s the message McCarthy should be relaying, not empty criticisms of a crusty, old Speaker who doesn’t give two thoughts about the safety, security, and welfare of any American outside her gated home.

Great article Jon! Watched Hannity last night and FF through McCarthy. I didn’t want to listen to the politically correct NON supporter of free speech. KMC riled me with his punishment of Steve King. Now I don’t trust him. I was very pleased with your article about KMC. Maybe you should do an article about what McCarthy’s punishment of King. He was lockstep with libs and other supposed conservatives.

BTW… I still don’t trust Gramesty!

Your article was great, but it didn’t go far enough. How did McCarthy become Speaker in the first place? He was voted into that position by fellow Republicans. McCarthy is just the face of our problem in D.C..

Nice article. I do hope there is some strategy for Trump giving into the Witch of the House ( Her own daughter said recently, ” she will cut your head off before you even know you’re bleeding….” Charming. (I guess cutting her teeth on a dad cavorting with the mob and hard ball politics trying to prove something to Daddy made her…). Trump is also fighting the Republican establishment (neocons , warmongers, Ryan’s office with Corker and Warner got first peek at fake dossier and were involved) as well as McCain’s seditious acts.. McConnell is no Trump supporter either.. As… Read more »

Good article as far as content/message. You need to do a better job on proof-reading it.

Totally agree. Two suggestions: The first is a commercial paid for by the GOP (WHERE IS THE GOP, BTW?) with a couple saying “What’s up with this shut down thing?” “It’s over a wall at the border?” “Oh, the wall, but don’t we already have some of the wall?” “Yes, well, it’s wall of thick solid steel slats, but yes we do and the Democrats voted for it”. “But they don’t want to pay for it now and are against it now?” “Yep”. “That’s crazy”. End of commercial. The second suggestion is all biz owners, large and small and mega… Read more »

The above comment by Cat is correct, the USA has a spiritual problem and all the laws and politics and people in the world cannot fix that – we are talking apples and oranges. The article was good. I think it would have been better if it had stressed the import of this situation. This is a very high profile issue – yes, POTUS may be able to give the SOTU whenever and wherever he chooses (short of the House floor), but that probably doesn’t soothe the Conservatives. Americans have a tendency to see issues like this as WIN or… Read more »

McCarthy is a Ryan Republican sell out. Trump is very weak. Being so inexperienced and listing to establishment consultants he has filled his administration with swamp dwellers including his girly boy son-in-law New York Democrat that deceived his giraffe necked feminist wife to reject Christ. Trump had the majority for two years. No wall. Turkey neck McConnell could have allowed a simple majority vote t move forward but refused. He and his Chicom wife make millions from the Chicom’s who are preparing to go to war against us. Don’t blame the cadaverous old communist Pelosi. Blame yourself and the Republicans.… Read more »

McCarthy NEEDS to “Grow a Pair, and stand UP TO Corrupt Pelosie, Schumer, etal. and NOT fold like a cheap suit, as Ryan did.” STAND BEHIND THIS POTUS WHO ALMOST HAS TO STAND AND FIGHT ALONE, AS RINO’S SIT ON THE FENCE AND DO NOTHING. McCarthy we DO NOT WANT ANOTHER PAUL RYAN, SO BACK “OUR CHOICE AS GOP VOTERS…DONALD J. TRUMP, AND PULL YOUR GOP MEMBERS BACK INTO SHAPE OR NONE OF YOU WILL EVER GET A DIME OR VOTE FROM US AGAIN. WE ARE SICK OF THE ‘STATUS QUO IN THE D.C. CESSPOOL OF CORRUPTION, AND THAT SMELLY… Read more »

Mccarthy isn’t the problem. Trump is the problem. He can’t save America with compromises and appeals to reasonableness. A house divided cannot long stand, nor endure.

Trump can get himself reelected and I’ll be one of the people who vote for him again, he can make any number of improvements and adjustments, but he will never save America until he definitively does what he promised and builds a wall, the whole wall.

Furthermore, America is doomed, if he fails to deal with sanctuary cities, states and public officials who are leading civil insurrection across America.

About once a year, I feel the need to restate the following, and this year it is even more important. I apologize for the length, but it needs to be said. Article IV, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution guarantees to every State in the Union a Republican Form of Government (i.e. a Republic). In fact, it is a requirement for any new State wishing to join the Union have a Republican Form of Government already in place. In a Republic every individual’s unalienable Rights, as endowed by their Creator, cannot be violated or denied by any mortal man or… Read more »

The establishment McCarthy attempts to come off as the bully Head Honcho when denigrating Congressman Steve King yet shivers at the thought of confronting a Democrat. McCarthy, McConnell, Lynne Cheyney and the rest of the corrupted career politicians are attempting to rid the Conservative Steve King in the same manner as they did with former Congressman Tom Tancredo.

Does anybody at this point really care how history will grade this affair? We will all be long gone by then. What would be nice however is to have my children read about this time and our history books will say President Trump and his base stayed together and ran over Nancy Pelosi and the Dems and this is why the people of the United States are free from the bonds of Government today!

Democrats are wretched and corrupt. Republicans are miserable cowards. I don’t know which is worse. I do know we all lose no matter who holds elective office.

I recently emailed my Rep congressman and advised him that the party should hold their future meeting just down the street ,Constitution Ave, at the Smithsonian Natural History Museum among extinct species. According to Darwin the strongest species evolve. The weaker (or meeker) become extinct. The ambiance of the dinosaurs’ bones at the museum may sink in and cause the party to shape up and work together and stop the stupid infighting -and become stronger and smarter. The Rep party has it’s RINOs, but I have not hear about Dem DINOs. So who is the stronger party today?? WAKE UP… Read more »

Great article, and exactly on point. McCarthy and McTurtle are EXACTLY why the Republicans lost the house, and our magnificent President can’t get his agenda accomplished. They refuse to fight like the dems. The dems represent a minority view, but they NEVER give up, give in, or admit defeat. The republicans represent the majority view, but are too scared of the media blow-back and going against their globalist donors, to take the bull by the horns, nationalize elections around 60-80% voter approval rated issues like building the wall, reducing the size of government, reducing regulations, etc. The republicans like McCarthy… Read more »
