Sen. Bernie Sanders, the socialist’s socialist who honeymooned in Soviet-run Moscow back in the day, wants another crack at Oval Office.
Undeterred from his last defeat at the hands of the very party he was attempting to represent after Democratic operatives made sure Hillary would receive the nod come hell or high water, Sanders took to the airwaves on Tuesday to — what else? — denounce POTUS Donald Trump in a way that would make professional hypocrites blush.
“It is absolutely imperative that Donald Trump be defeated because I think it is unacceptable and un-American, to be frank with you, that we have a president who is a pathological liar and it gives me no pleasure to say that, but it’s true,” Sanders said to “CBS This Morning” co-host John Dickerson.
“We have a president who is a racist, who is a sexist, who is a xenophobe, who is doing what no president in our lifetimes has come close to do doing, and that is trying to divide us up,” he added — being as divisive as he possibly could in the process.
Well, Crazy Bernie is bad at a lot of things and being honest is one of them.
While he besmirches the president over his alleged dishonest, the very last thing Sanders will do is be honest about the economic model he touts: Socialism.
During his interview, Sanders said that he’ll make raising the minimum wage, free healthcare, and free college education part of his 2020 bid.
“All of those ideas people were saying, ‘Oh Bernie, they’re so radical. They are extreme. The American people just won’t accept those ideas,’” Sanders said. “Well, you know what’s happened in over three years? All of those ideas and many more are now part of the political mainstream.”
Of course, they are, Bernie. Most everyone loves “free stuff.” You’re not being honest about what those policies will cost and how much damage they’ll do to the economy, not to mention the futures of countless supporters.
Raising the minimum wage, which is no more than government forcing businesses to pay their workers wages that are impractically high for the skill level of the job and unaffordable, is costing jobs and costing livelihoods, not creating wealth and opportunity.
‘Free’ healthcare was so expensive and so impossible even Bernie’s Left-wing home state of Vermont decided against implementing a universal healthcare plan because it couldn’t be paid for without breaking average citizens. Taken nationally, this plan would cost more than $32 trillion; Bernie, being a “pathological liar” when it comes to socialist healthcare policies like Medicare for All, won’t tell the truth about this little expenditure.
Free college? Right now student loan debt is a “crisis.” Some 44 million borrowers owe a collective $1.5 trillion; where’s Bernie going to find the money to pay off this debt (considering our country is already $22 trillion in debt, which, sadly, continues to grow because Congress refuses to tighten its spending).
Here’s the truth Bernie won’t talk about: When his Millennial supporters are told about the costs of his socialist programs and then asked if they’d be willing to financially kick in for them, their support vanishes faster than his economic honesty.
POTUS Trump lies? Well if that’s true then Bernie is a serious case of the pot calling the kettle black. Not only does Sanders refuse to be honest about his socialist policies, he won’t even run as an “Independent,” which is how he identifies himself politically, he’s pretending to be a Democrat again.
