During an appearance on Fox News‘ Tucker Carlson program Wednesday evening, Daily Mail editor-at-large Piers Morgan panned 2020 Democratic presidential contender Sen. Bernie Sanders’ call to allow serving felons the privilege of voting to help select our leaders as “utter lunacy.”
“You know, Tucker, I was watching the CNN town hall with Bernie Sanders when he said what he said about the Boston Marathon bomber, and I literally spat my drink out,” Morgan — never one to hold back — told Carlson. “It was a nice glass of red wine, so it was a senseless waste of good alcohol.”
That happened, Morgan continued, “because I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.”
Sanders, Morgan noted, is a frontrunner for the 2020 Democratic nomination — someone the party hopes could beat POTUS Donald Trump. “And their main selling point at a CNN town hall is that they want the Boston Marathon bomber to be able to vote while he’s in prison, while he’s on death row?”
“Whilst you say, ‘don’t mock it,’ how can we not mock it?” Morgan continued. “This is the stuff of utter lunacy.”
Morgan went onto observe that “woke thought” within the increasingly far-Left Democratic Party is pushing candidates and elected leaders to embrace fanatical policies that are so far out of the mainstream they can’t realistically win with them.
To such Leftists, “it makes perfect sense to let rapists, pedophiles, people who are guilty of treason, mass murders, serial killers…they should all have the right to vote,” Morgan continued, adding that to many Democrats now, “that is the most important thing.”
“Here’s what I would ask them, and there’s an irony here, Tucker, which you will immediately understand,” Morgan said. “If you ask the very same Democratic candidates who support this, who want the right to vote to exist for felons, ask them how they feel about the right to own or buy a gun.”
“Exactly,” Carlson noted.
Morgan, who has made his anti-gun ownership views well-known to American audiences, nevertheless sees massive hypocrisy in Democrats’ going along with keeping guns out of the hands of felons but nevertheless ensuring they have some newfound “right” to vote — even after they’ve given up that right by harming American society through their crimes.
“According to Democrats,” Morgan said, denying felons the vote “in an infringement on their constitutional rights. So why aren’t they out there campaigning at the same time for felons to have the constitutional right to own and buy a gun?”
Carlson noted: “What they’re saying is, ‘We don’t trust you to go deer hunting, but we want you to choose our leaders and our next president.’ So what they’re really saying is, ‘We don’t care at all about anything, we’re nihilists, all we want is power, and if we see a reservoir of potential voters, we’re going to tap that reservoir.'”
