Normally, we don’t root for people to lose, but when it comes to opposing straight-up propaganda disguised as ‘news,’ we don’t have a problem with it.
As such, we are celebrating the fact that the hapless Rachel Maddow, once briefly atop the cable news ratings just last fall as she ceaselessly pushed the bogus “Trump-Russia collusion” narrative night after night after night, has seen her viewership tank again following special counsel Robert Mueller’s ‘official’ finding of…no collusion.
As The Daily Caller reports, Maddow posted her worst ratings week of the year last week:
Her show last week averaged 2,324,000 viewers, with an average audience of 337,000 in the 25-54 age demographic, both of which mark yearly lows for the liberal television host, according to Nielsen Media Research.
As we noted at the end of March, following the release of the Mueller report, news shows like Maddow’s program that live by the lie also die by it:
For most of a year, the network’s ratings have been steadily improving with one of its hosts, Rachel Maddow, garnering double-digit increases to become MSNBC‘s prime-time behemoth, surpassing, on some nights, Fox News rival Sean Hannity.
And for that same period, Maddow and the rest of the network’s ‘talent’ line-up pushed the Russian collusion hoax to viewers. Night after night, they told their audiences that, any day now, that fine, upstanding, paragon of virtue, Robert Mueller, was going to deliver the goods on POTUS Donald Trump, which would lead invariably to impeachment and, for good measure, post-White House financial ruin and even jail time.
But then the bottom fell out of the narrative on Friday when the special counsel delivered his mandated report to the Justice Department declaring that, after months and months of searching, no evidence of “collusion” with Russia to “steal the election from Hillary Clinton” could be found.
The Daily Beast attempted to paint a nice, Left-wing picture that perhaps the dip was just temporary:
Maddow, who has consistently vied for the first or second top-rated cable news program, was sixth on Monday evening, down almost 500,000 total viewers from the previous Monday, as was MSNBC’s second top-rated program in primetime, The Last Word With Lawrence O’Donnell.
Within MSNBC, there’s an acknowledgment that the Trump-Russia narrative on which the cable network—and especially its primetime star Maddow—built monster ratings has fizzled for the moment.
Nope. Looks permanent.
Ditto for CNN, which doesn’t have a viewership to spare as it is:
According to Nielsen Media Research, CNN‘s viewership tanked a whopping 26 percent in April, a dip tied inextricably to the release of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report in which he officially cleared POTUS Donald Trump of “colluding” with Russia to “steal” the 2016 election from Hillary Clinton.
