Democrat, media reaction to Trump-Putin ‘election meddling’ exchange is object lesson in hypocrisy

By Jon Dougherty

(NationalSentinel) Democrats and their allies in the mainstream media were aghast at an exchange between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday as they met ahead of the G-20 Summit in Osaka Japan in their latest vain attempt to portray both men as ‘collusion’ allies.

The Associated Press summed up the lunacy and hypocrisy of the ‘outrage’ with this headline: “Like Old Pals, Trump, Putin Make Light of Election Meddling.”

The AP noted:

Smiling together on a global stage, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin cheerfully dismissed Russian interference in U.S. elections, shared their contempt for the world’s news media and generally flaunted their personal bond on Friday.

That was one day after the Russian leader praised the president of the United States for his nationalist world views and vigorously declared the days of the West’s liberals are dying if not already dead.

For some time, Trump has defied the once-entrenched Republican distrust if not outright hatred of the powerful nation at the heart of the former Soviet Union. But Friday’s joint appearance seemed to go even further.

As the two leaders sat down for their first meeting in nearly a year, a reporter asked Trump if he would warn Putin not to meddle in America’s upcoming 2020 election.

“Of course,” the president replied. Then he turned to Putin and facetiously said, “Don’t meddle in the election.” He playfully repeated the request while pointing at Putin, who laughed.

Well, that’s it, then. Final proof: Donald Trump and Vlad ‘colluded’ during the 2016 election and are now just rubbing our noses in it.

But reality is always much different than the fiction the Democrat-aligned ‘mainstream’ media portrays to the sheep who still pay them much attention.

First and foremost, the media folks who claim to be journalists and not political activists who just happen to have jobs at media organizations still don’t get or understand Donald Trump. The question he got — ‘Are you gonna tell Vlad to stop meddling in our elections?’ — wasn’t serious because the underlying motivation for it, that Trump and Vlad ‘colluded’ to beat Hillary, isn’t serious. Or true. Robert Mueller even said so.

But the president took the question anyway — and the opportunity to goad the media by mocking the lunacy of it along with manufactured narrative behind it. Even the very compromised and deep-state motivated Robert Mueller pronounced Trump (and Vlad) innocent of collusion.

Lost in this exchange are several facts undercutting the stupidity that Trump and Putin are really “old pals” or that the Republican Party, in general, is enamored with Moscow:

— As some in the very same mainstream media reported just days ago, a Russian warship docked in Cuba in a clear indication that geopolitical great power competition is still alive and well (and wouldn’t you know it — the warship docked at just about the time POTUS and Putin were to meet — signal? We think so). Fox News noted:

Armed with cruise missiles, air deference systems and other weapons, the Admiral Gorshkov — which pulled into Cuba’s capital Monday — is the first ship in a new class of frigates intended to replace aging Soviet-era destroyers to project power far away from Russian shores.

Does that sound like something a ‘pal’ would do?

— Earlier this month, no less than The New York Times — in a blow to U.S. national security — reported leaked info that the Trump administration was targeting Russian power infrastructure using cyber warfare tools. What’s more, the cyber attacks were specifically aimed at punishing Russia for its ‘election meddling’:

The United States is stepping up digital incursions into Russia’s electric power grid in a warning to President Vladimir V. Putin and a demonstration of how the Trump administration is using new authorities to deploy cybertools more aggressively, current and former government officials said.

In interviews over the past three months, the officials described the previously unreported deployment of American computer code inside Russia’s grid and other targets as a classified companion to more publicly discussed action directed at Moscow’s disinformation and hacking units around the 2018 midterm elections.

Is that something one bud would do that to another bud?

— Meantime, the Trump administration in November ramped up existing sanctions against Russia ahead of a global gathering in Paris, over Moscow’s continued interference in Ukraine and Crimea:

The Trump administration levied additional sanctions Thursday on Russia for human rights abuses and illegal economic activity in Crimea, just days before President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin head to Paris for a gathering of world leaders.

The move is another example of the Trump administration’s willingness to at times be tougher on Russia than the president’s rhetoric suggests.

Pals?

Oh, and remember when our ‘tough guy’ president, Barack Obama, said he said he admonished Vlad over election meddling, telling him to “cut it out”?

How come Obama can tell Vlad to ‘cut it out’ and it’s believable, but not Trump? Maybe because the question to Trump wasn’t serious in the first place.

Meanwhile:

— Mueller managed to spend tens of millions of dollars and nearly two years looking into ‘Russian collusion’ and ‘election meddling,’ but strangely did not follow any piece of evidence indicating that the 2016 presidential campaign of Hillary Clinton, along with the Democratic National Committee, were both directly involved with Russian and Ukrainian sources in a blatant attempt to manipulate (meddle) the results of the election.

Clinton even endorsed getting “political dirt” from foreign sources, which, at the time, earned her a rebuke from current House Intelligence Committee chair Adam Schiff (who now is a ‘collusion birther’ regarding POTUS Trump and Russia).

And let’s not forget that the Clinton campaign and the DNC, through a cutout, the Perkins Coie law firm, paid Fusion GPS to commission former British spy and anti-Trump guy Christopher Steele to collaborate with Russian sources to create his bogus “Russia dossier.”

— Following bombshell revelations earlier this week from Project Veritas, the Left-wing media isn’t at all concerned about Google’s very real, very admitted 2018 and 2020 election meddling. As J. D. Heyes from NewsTarget noted:

According to details published by PV and accompanying video taken by its undercover journalists, Google has managed to hire a gaggle of brainwashed Left-wing sycophants who religiously believe they are ‘saving the country’ by altering AI algorithms to filter out any and all pro-Trump content from independent and conservative media on the world’s biggest search platform.

In fact, according to one of them, the AI algorithms are designed to filter (censor) content in such a way so that Google can single-handedly prevent the “next Trump situation” — that is, his reelection next year.

“We all got screwed over in 2016, again it wasn’t just us, it was, the people got screwed over, the news media got screwed over, like, everybody got screwed over so we’re rapidly been like, what happened there and how do we prevent it from happening again,” said longtime Google employee and head of “Responsible Innovation,” Jen Gennai.

The mainstream media’s response? Yawn. In fact, little Brian Stelter, host of the misnamed CNN fare “Reliable Sources,” even tweeted that he couldn’t find any news from ‘reliable sources’ during a Google search (!) — but this was after Google censored the video from its platform (!!).

— And what of this Republican ‘hatred’ of Russia? It’s more of a distrust and that’s healthy. Meanwhile, the garbage media has completely whiffed when it comes to reporting all of the instances over the years of Democrats ‘colluding with Russia’ to undermine GOP administrations, beginning with Ronald Reagan in the 1980s (when the Soviet Union was still very much a threat).

Notes Marc Thiessen:

…[D]uring the Cold War, when the Soviet Union posed an existential threat to our democracy, not so much. Most Democrats opposed the Reagan policies that led to the fall of the Soviet empire. They fought the Reagan defense buildup and his Strategic Defense Initiative (which Sen. Edward Kennedy dismissed as “Star Wars” and Sen. John Kerry called “a dream based on illusion”). They supported the Soviet-supported nuclear freeze movement and opposed Reagan’s deployment of intermediate-range nuclear missiles to Western Europe. They criticized Reagan’s efforts to arm freedom fighters seeking to overthrow Soviet puppet regimes and support to pro-American governments fighting communist insurgencies.

American Liberty: “Established 1776” Order yours now!

Not only did Democrats oppose Reagan’s policies, they heaped scorn on his blunt anti-Communist rhetoric. After Reagan called on the Soviets to “tear down” the Berlin Wall, Democratic House Speaker Jim Wright declared that he had “utter contempt for Reagan” because he had “spoiled the chance for a dramatic breakthrough in relations between our two countries.”

While Reagan denounced the Soviet Union as an “Evil Empire” and promised to leave it on “the ash heap of history,” Democrats such as Kennedy criticized Reagan for his “misleading Red-scare tactics.”

Sound familiar? It does, doesn’t it? Sounds like Democrats today talking about POTUS Donald Trump’s foreign policies — as they work to undermine them.

The American mainstream media’s continued claims that our president is a Russian-controlled Manchurian candidate are not only wrong and stupid but inherently harmful and divisive, tearing at the fabric of our society. If they had even a shred of honor or real sense of duty, they’d be ashamed at what they’ve become: Paid shills for a party that hates our country.
