(NationalSentinel) Thugs and cowards who assemble and attack others under the banner of ‘Antifa’ struck again in the Marxist enclave of Portland, Ore., on Saturday, attacking independent journalist Andy Ngo and drawing the ire of a U.S. ambassador.
Richard Grenell, currently serving the Trump administration as ambassador to Germany, expressed outrage at the attack against the Quillette writer and is calling on the Justice Department to investigate the incident, possibly as an act of domestic terrorism — and especially after reports that, as usual, Portland Police stood down and did nothing to intervene.
Online reports noted that Ngo suffered bleeding on the brain following the attack and was hospitalized.
Update to @MrAndyNgo supporters — he is being admitted to the hospital overnight as a result of a brain bleed. You sick “journalists” and other hacks gloating about this should be ashamed. As for the rest, please pray for @MrAndyNgo who we need back in health — brave man!🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️ https://t.co/XYVy4EbIzv

Following the attack Michelle Malkin set up a GoFund me account for Ngo, who was also robbed.
Grenell noted on Twitter that the attack has to be investigated on a federal level.

I have asked “@TheJusticeDept to investigate this incident in Portland. I can’t just sit by and watch my friend be brutally attacked,” he wrote.
Police in Portland, as well as the city’s Leftist mayor, Ted Wheeler, have a history of allowing Antifa to roam and rule the streets, ganging up on anyone they choose to victimize, as noted by J. D. Heyes at NewsTarget in August 2018:
The Left-wing hate and intolerance of POTUS Donald Trump and his supporters were bad enough as it was, but now it’s gotten to the point where it is affecting reasonable judgement and putting people at risk.
In recent weeks an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Portland, Ore., which has become the West Coast epicenter of Trump Derangement Syndrome, came under siege by far-Left “Occupy ICE” demonstrators who set up a ramshackle tent city in an adjacent parking lot.
The protesters blocked ICE employees from entering the facility for more than 30 days before federal police, dispatched to open the facility, cleared demonstrators out and began securing the premises.
But a number of ICE employees have since reported being harassed and threatened with physical violence for which they called the Portland Police Bureau to lodge complaints. But cops never showed up to take their reports.
Why? Because the department was ordered to stand down by Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler, who was quoted as saying by local media in June, “I do not want the Portland Police to be engaged or sucked into a conflict.”
“The policy being enacted by the federal government around the separation of very small children from their parents is an abomination,” Wheeler tweeted. “I want to be very clear I do not want the @PortlandPolice to be engaged or sucked into a conflict, particularly from a federal agency that I believe is on the wrong track, that has not fully lived American values of inclusion and is also an agency where the former head suggested that people who lead cities that are sanctuary cities like this one should be arrested.”
As for the ordering of his department to stand down, a letter from attorney Sean Riddell to Wheeler accuses the mayor of violating the Fourteenth Amendment’s equal protection clause.
“Your current policy forbidding Portland law enforcement agencies from assisting employees of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency who request law enforcement assistance while at or away from work is a violation of the United States Constitution’s Equal Protection Clause,” the letter states, as The National Sentinel reported.
“We understand that you have a difference of opinion with the current President of the United States, and some of his policies, but we fail to see why targeting the employees of ICE and leaving them vulnerable to violence, harassment and even death furthers a legitimate government interest,” Riddell wrote, adding that refusing to allow local police to protect ICE employees “created a zone of terror and lawlessness.”
Normally, we are not supportive of federal involvement in local law enforcement matters. When Barack Obama’s Justice Department ‘intervened’ on the local level, it was to foist Left-wing social justice and race policies on police departments.
But this is different. Obama’s own DHS and FBI, at one time, designated Antifa as a domestic terrorist organization, and the federal government has a clear mandate to investigate and prosecute domestic terrorism.
According to reports, Ngo was also doused with quick-drying cement, which can cause flash chemical burns — making it a ‘chemical weapon,’ by any account. That only adds to the domestic terrorist label.
By definition, using violence to effect a certain political outcome is terrorism.
Amb. Grenell is right on this one; Portand PD and the city’s mayor aren’t going to do anything about these thugs and cowards.
