Obama’s DHS secretary blasts Dems’ open borders proposals: ‘That is unwise, unworkable’

By Jon Dougherty

(NationalSentinel) President Obama’s former secretary of Homeland Security continues to speak up in favor of the Trump administration’s border enforcement efforts, calling Democrats’ “open borders” proposals “unwise” and “unworkable.”

In an interview with the Washington Post, former DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson, in particular, criticized 2020 Democratic presidential contender Julio Castro’s proposal to decriminalize illegal border crossings.

“That is tantamount to declaring publicly that we have open borders,” Johnson said. “That is unworkable, unwise and does not have the support of a majority of American people or the Congress, and if we had such a policy, instead of 100,000 apprehensions a month, it will be multiples of that.”

Like many multiples.

The Washington Free Beacon noted further that most other 2020 Dems also want the same thing:

Other 2020 candidates, including Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.), Kirsten Gillibrand (D., N.Y.), and Kamala Harris (D., Calif.) as well as South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg have embraced the proposal. Eight of the more than 20 candidates have expressed explicit support for open borders. Sen. Cory Booker (D., N.J.) said he would “virtually eliminate immigration detention,” if elected president.

Castro, who served as Housing Secretary under Obama, says his plan is in response to the “cruelty” imposed on illegal aliens and migrants by the Trump administration, though POTUS Trump isn’t doing anything different than what Castro’s old boss did.

With the exception of separating migrant children from their families: Obama did that a lot, while POTUS Trump ended the policy.

In January, Castro said that the Trump administration’s claim of a “crisis” along the U.S.-Mexico border was a “lie.”

American Liberty: “Established 1776” Order yours now!

“The president has said there is somehow this crisis at the border,” Castro said. “That’s a lie. That couldn’t be further from the truth.”

Actually, his version of events is a lie. Not only does the president think so, but so does Jeh Johnson.
