(TNS) The New York Times is a waste of bandwidth and newsprint, but for some reason, far too many Americans continue to believe the paper is a legitimate news source, despite all of the fake fucking news they’ve published since President Trump took office.

But the editorial staff had a moment of clarity and honesty when they published a piece that praised the “deep state” — then misidentified those within it who are turning on the president as “patriots.”
The deep state is alive and well, composed of patriotic public servants. Their aim is not to bring down President Trump out of personal or political animus but to rescue the Republic from his excesses, says @mcottle. https://t.co/nk6Gwr0tXU

From the editorial:
President Trump is right: The deep state is alive and well. But it is not the sinister, antidemocratic cabal of his fever dreams. It is, rather, a collection of patriotic public servants — career diplomats, scientists, intelligence officers and others — who, from within the bowels of this corrupt and corrupting administration, have somehow remembered that their duty is to protect the interests, not of a particular leader, but of the American people.
Fiona Hill, Michael McKinley and the whistle-blower who effectively initiated the impeachment investigation — when these folks saw something suspicious, they said something. Their aim was not to bring down Mr. Trump out of personal or political animus but to rescue the Republic from his excesses. Those who refuse to silently indulge this president’s worst impulses qualify as heroes — and deserve our gratitude.
Michelle Cottle, a member of the Times’ editorial board, is the author, so to her specifically we ask: Are you kidding? Or are you just out of your mind?
Because she’d have to be one or other other to seriously push that nonsense.
First and foremost, these people are not patriots. They are indeed public servants and as such, they are responsible for serving the public through service to the man we elected to lead our country.
If they don’t have the conscience to do that, then they can get out into the private sector. But they sure shouldn’t be soaking up a taxpayer-funded salary and benefits to take part in a coup against a sitting president.
Yes, there truly are things that are being done internally in every government agency that ought to be reported to superiors. But that’s it; once it comes to the Executive Branch, that stuff is so far above the pay grades of these ‘patriots’ you can’t believe it.
Staffers simply are not permitted to point fingers at the president the United States for conducting domestic and foreign policy and ‘accuse him’ of a crime.
Of course, the only reason they are — and they only reason they haven’t been fired — is because it’s Trump; imagine Cottle writing the same stuff about people who were trying to destroy Barack Obama’s presidency.
She wouldn’t have, of course, and she certainly would not have described such people as “patriots.”
Make no mistake: The aim here of the deep state is specifically to “bring down Mr. Trump.” Either she knows that or she’s too stupid to be sitting on the editorial board of a supposedly major newspaper.
There are fewer and fewer Americans who trust the people in the ‘mainstream’ media everyday, and it’s because the publish fiction like this and then insult us by expecting us to believe it.
